Paths of Glory (1957) has to be one of the greatest anti-war films ever made. The cast is excellent, everyone from Kirk Douglas to Timothy Carey Jr. (who steals the show). Stanley Kubrick solidifies his directorial career with this film. Their would be no turning back for this young and head strong film maker who directs a very compelling anti-war movie.

During World War I, the French are losing ground to the Germans. The pompous French generals only care about glory and the pride of victory. But they are oblivious to the new age of warfare. After taking another serious defeat, they decide to do something about it. They want to make an example of their soldiers by doing something so cruel and drastic. Can humans be so cruel to each other? What are these trumped up charges? Is Stanely Kubrick really a master director? To find out the answers to these questions you'll have to watch Paths of Glory.

A great movie from Stanley Kubrick.  But Kirk Douglas wasn't pleased with the actions of co-star Timothy Carey Jr.  He didn't not appreciate his ad libbingin his scenes.  Douglas was also mad at Kubrick for allowing him to do so.
