Monster Rally
The cult hit TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000 poked fun at lots of films, some of them considered classic cinema by certain crowds of film critics. So it came as no shock that a number of the films discussed in my book Monster Rally were lucky enough to receive the MST3K treatment.

Samson vs. Vampire Women
Thorina - "Follow me, we'll search for human blood." Crow - "I say we start by searching for humans!" (Season 6, Episode 24) Mentioned in the chapter 'Slamming Monsters with El Santo', this Santo movie was on TV's Frank's final episode."

Phase IV
Crow - "Looks kinda skinny. Must be a Carpenter Ant." Tom - "Ant-orexic." (KTMA Episode 9) Phase IV appeared during the infancy of MST3K, when it was still a public access show on KTMA.

Squirm
Mother - "I just don't want you to be too disappointed if he doesn't come." Crow - "Mother! That's private!" (Season 10, Episode 12) Squirm, the next to last episode, is films covered in the chapter 'Flying, Crawling, Squirming and Killing'."

It Conquered the World
Peter Graves on phone - "What?" Crow - "Gunsmoke? No, it'll never work. Call my brother." Peter Graves on phone - "Why that's impossible." Crow - "Mission Impossible! Yeah, that sounds great!" (Season 3, Episode 11)

She Creature
Tom - "The only movie based on a lens flare!" (Season 8, Episode 8) She Creature features the low-budget monster-creations of Paul Blaisdell, whose career is traced in the chapter 'Bug-Eyed Maestro'.

Invasion of the Saucer Men
Invasion of the Saucer Men also featured effects by Paul Blaisdell. This film was never used in an MST3K episode, but... (Season 4, Episode 18) Attack of the Eye Creatures, a 1965 AIP remake of Invasion of the Saucer Men, was.

MST3K was fun, I'm more fond of Rifftrax, big movies that still get ripped on.
