I'd like to share what I know about: Mamoru Oshii, Robotech, Transformers

It's always a good sign when you're an adult in a movie marketed for kids and you find yourself laughing louder than the restless children in the audience. Albeit, it's a tad embarrassing too, but a good sign for the movie none the less. It's that funny. It might even be more embarrassing to admit that I don't think I ever read the book in my youth....more

One line saved this movie from being a complete bore for me: Dennis Quaid: "Besides, I don't even believe in God." Archangel Micahel: "That's fine. He doesn't believe in you either." Aside from being just a great one-two punch back at modern society's pubescent protests against God, that line pretty much sums up the whole point...more

A quick visit to Wikipedia and I discover that Mr. Gary Oldman is starting to live up to his namesake. No offense, of course, to those over the nice round age of 50. In fact, take it as a compliment. One thing I've noticed about a lot of Clint Eastwood's movies is that they feel as much like literature as they do cinema. I'm not sure if this is because of the source material he works from, his very understated directing style or his actors who give very convincing performances. Whatever the answer, Invictus has a literary texture that will probably...more

Just bumped into a very interesting article on the troubles that Netflix has been having with striking a deal with Hollywood studios on providing instant viewing of recent movies. I'm a Netflix subscriber and I'm happy with their service. I'm even happy with their customer service. So far I've lost only one of their DVDs, and for the most part,...more
