This site doesn't cut it for me. Yeah, the list of restaurants and events is nice, but the reviews too often lack detail and are frequently too grounded in the "it's good because it's good" or "it sucks because it sucks" way of reviewing. I can rarely find out any real details of what I'm trying to learn about.

Dear nonexistent people who who keep popping up at random: If you're only posting a phony profile of a person who doesn't actually exist, don't follow my work! You're a waste of space and having your name on my followers list is a discredit to me. If you're not an active poster and/or have never been an active poster and/or have no intention of ever being an active poster, you have no business placing … more
I can't remember what my life was like before goodreads and, honestly, I don't want to. It's a lifesaver to track the books I've read and reviewed, what my mom has out from the library, not to mention what all of my friends are reading. Not thrilled with the latest site redesign but that's hardly enough to counter all of the other enviable features.

Ouch!!! 40% LOSS for investors in its first 10 days of trading on the NASDAQ! More if you bought at the height of around $45 on its listing day!!! I wrote a review of it (I know a bubble when I see one!) on the weekend after its listing looking for a price range of $25-28! It recorded a low of $26.83 yesterday (May 31) before a technical rebound at the close! … more
This review is about Facebook as a stock rather than a social media site. It's about business! Facebook had its IPO listed on Nasdaq last friday (May 18) making Mark Zuckerberg a $20 billion man! He rang in the bell for Nasdaq opening & his own wedding the next day (May 19). That makes Mark Zuckerberg not just the richest 28 year old on the planet but also the luckiest … more

It began trading on Nasdaq around $43 last friday. Today, in just a market day, over the weekend after Mark's wedding, it's trading at around $33!!! Lucky Mark who sold it at $38 with the help of Morgan Stanley! Not so lucky for the investors (retail or institutional) even if they are buying for the long term!!! They could have gotten it for $33 today or even less later! … more

A good idea to help members find what they want. It needs to be accurate and easy to grasp. Not to be mistaken as a promotional tool for any community. Tags need to apply to the topic itself. (movies will go to communities with this tag and books wil go to communities with this tag etc.) so it would be much easier to find. Closely related to tag manager in communities. … more
The reviewing format in this lunch is one of the best I've worked with and provides total freedom. I love it that I can add photos, links (to my other reviews), and all the tools that can make reviews look much more fancy and professional looking. It is also nice that the 'unhelpful' button has been eliminated since the goal of the site is not competition but rather sharing and learning … more

I'm on Facebook and I hate myself for it. The only reason I joined was because invitations from friends to events kept flying over my head, and when they asked where I was, they would always tell me it was on Facebook. Herein is the big problem I have with the site: People consider it all they need. Basic human decency and intimate, detailed conversation is being eschewed. But on the upside, I've … more
Is there anyone who is still not on Facebook by now? Yes! Many of my personal friends. Having said that, they are possibly the minority rather than the majority in the world now. So, I'll keep this short and simple. My take on Facebook. I had an account on it for many years but I hardly logged in. The main reason being I don't really know a great many who … more
Okay, here's that odd circumstance where I am being offered something for nothing and whining about it. As you can probably tell from my rating, I generally like Lunch.com. One of the site owners found my work on Epinions.com and asked me to drop in and give Lunch.com a quick whirl, even offering a little bit of payment as an incentive. With Epinions.com swirling ominously … more

Tags assist members in finding what they want to read about and help organize communities in the site.. Tags are supposed to be factual and a main part of the wiki such as "movies, sci-fi, fantasy, comedy, reading or comics". This is a great tool when used responsibly. Please check out this FAQ on tagging: http://www.lunch.com/Forums-HelpForum-What_are_tags_-93-1-1.html … more
There are pros and cons. I use them to keep in touch with my family. My kids are always on there, so I can actually keep in contact that way. But sometimes you get people that you don't want to find you, able to.
Global phenomenon? Yes. A scourge of every day life? Absolutely. Here's why you should follow my example and pull the plug on Zuckerberg's narcissistic ego-porn site. So today I took the leap and unfriended myself from Facebook, which is ironic considering that I spend a major part of my time helping clients buy social media advertising - it's like being … more
