Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea

30 Ratings: 3.2
A 2008 book by Chelsea Handler.

Handler proves the adage that just because one can, doesn't mean one should. This applies to both her role as a writer and a narrator. In this disjointed collection of memories and experiences, even her overenthusiastic voice cannot compensate for … see full wiki

Somehow, all 20 something ne'er do wells, over achievers, college go-getters and no-getters can take something away from this book. And that is because most 20 somethings have one thing in common, a newly found (or oldly found) love of drinking. Chelsea Handler helps put this in perspective along with personal journeys through entrepreneurship, fighting authority, dying goldfish and fake British accents just to name a few. That's right readers, fake British accents. This book is action packed! …

All I did was laugh the entire time. Seriously I laughed so much my abs got a little bit of a workout. Chelsea Handler is beyond hilarious, and as she recalls her childhood and former life, her witty comments and awkward situations just leave you wanting more and more.      I would recommend this to anyone that wants a funny read and has a good sense of humor. You can't be offended to easily and you have to appreciate who Handler is.      …

Pull Up a Seat at the Bar With Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, by Chelsea Handler
A few weeks ago I was wandering through one of those Atlantic bookstores when I stumbled upon Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler. I don't usually go for celebrity memoirs (I read novels almost exclusively) but always enjoyed Chelsea's column in Cosmopolitan and decided to give it a try. For the most part, it turned out to be just the sort of irreverent, light fare for which I'd been searching, with the exception of a chapter entitled "Prison Break" …

Love Chelsea. She's has the greatest sense of humor. I don't know how she comes up with half of the things that come out of her mouth.

Chelsea Handler is a comic genius. She is witty, charming, and absolutely HILARIOUS. This book is for anyone with a great sense of humor looking for some serious laughter. I think the greatest part of all 3 of Handler's books are that they stories and situations are real.

As always, one can count on Chelsea to tell it like it is. We all have our quirks, some of us try to hide them others don't care, Chelsea writes all about them in her latest book that covers some of her childhood and stops about two years back. After reading it I realized that no matter what happened to her along the way, she always told her stories in such a nonchalant way that even the most horrific events that would turn most people to mush didn't really seem to stop her. I won't give spoilers …

I picked up this book with the only expectations of hoping it was as funny as Chelsea Handler is while doing her show or doing stand up. Bottom line, it delivers the comedic punch you'd expect from her. It's candid and filled with humorous stories about her family, a few men in her life and her friends. In all, it's a memoir without the usual sad, dramatic parts. This is more like a sampling of her life, each chapter offering a small anecdote about a different event from her life.     For …

I picked this book up at Barnes and Noble, sat down and began to read. Started to laugh so hard that I bought the book and finished it at home, where I could laugh in private.    Chelsea Handler delivers this book with the dead-on hilarious precision of the stand-up comic that she is. Handler's strong voice shines throughout the book and it is almost impossible to put down.    The book is divided into chapters according to age. In "Blacklisted," you meet 9 …
