One episode a season will go on this list for my favorite episodes of Next Generation. I have other favorites but one episode a season is what makes it here. I am fully aware that the usual suspects for best episodes will be missing for the most part on this list but I'm going to make it a point not to try not going with the obvious choices. There are my personal choices, going in order of season.
The Ferengi more then make up for their disasterous first appearance in "The Last Outpost" with this one. A Ferengi Captain finds Picards old vessel the Stargazer adrift and derelict in space and use it as a pawn for revenge against Picard for a skirmish from long ago. First season TNG really needed more good episodes like this. Ignore Wesley's contribution to saving the day and it's good.
A mysterious and even a little spooky at times has the Enterprise sucked into a void in space and learn that a space creature is studying them. Nice atmosphere for the most part and for a bottle show it was pretty good.

A fully original concept that Trek hadn't done yet at this point having an older Enterprise appear from the past and disrupting the future where the modern day Enterprise is now a battleship and Picard is a tough military leader leading the Federation against a losing war with the Klingons. This episode is high on a tough situation and would lead to lasting repurcutions in later episodes.

Beverly didn't have many episodes for her character but this was one of them and it's great. The final reel as she tries to put everything together is great as she attempts to escape a spatial science experiment that Wesley built.

The Enterprise gets hit by a energy field that disables the Enterprise and seperates the crew. Picard must rescue children from a turbolift. Geordi and Crusher must put out a radiation fire, Riker and Data try to reach Engineering. Worf must deliver a baby and Troi is in charge on the bridge and needs to make tough decisions. This is a good episode and everyone gets a part of it.

This is the most cracktastic episode of Trek ever. Troi turns into a fish woman, Worf into a Klingon mutant, Riker a caveman and Picard comes close to being a monkey. Sadly we don't see Data the Super Nintendo. Yes, the crew is DEevolving. Darwin hates this episode but it's awesome in my book.
