Cast purely for the va-va-voom factor, she still managed to grow into a valuable cast member.

When Jeri Ryan was put into the show the reason was pretty obvious. She was a hot body to get ratings. I confess my reaction was to be somewhat insulted. But eventually I had to admit she was a more interesting character than Kes. I have met woment like Kes, they are so NICE they are completely boring. 7 of 9 wasn't BORING.

As a person in the real world she would be so obnoxious you couldn't stand her but watching Bellana Torres not be able to stand her was quite entertaining.
