Been There, Done That...Here's to More Drama Minnesota!

I own a Brett Favre Jersey; it's from last year when he was a member of the New York Jets.  We all know how that ended...  But Here we are, almost one year later and Brett Favre has officially come out of retirement yet again and is now a member of the Minnesota Vikings, bitter rival of Favre's beloved Packers.  It's back to twelve different opinions on the matter and now where Michael Vick was once the big NFL headline, Brett Favre takes his rightful place at the top of the hill that is the media.  I just have one question; did anyone watch the final half of the Jets season last year?

Let's put aside for a minute that for the meantime, the Vikings are a better football team with Brett Farve.  Look at how much drama and back and forth talk it took for Brett to finally get to Minnesota.  In some ways, it's even worse than last year because in this case, the Vikings, who have already started the preseason, went from playing a waiting game, to then hearing just now that Brett Favre is in fact joining your team.  Think about how this makes Tarvaris Jackson feel.  it's really not fair because in the end, Minnesota had to know before yesterday that Favre was coming back despite the fact that he said he wasn't.  I mean common, they had his jersey waiting for him the minute he signed!  This means they were being dishonest with their team members who were relying on the hierarchy to tell them exactly what their role is going to be.  Not good.

Meanwhile, Favre seems to expect all of the special treatment and unfortunately teams give it to him.  Last year is was the Jets trying to convince him that he could still hunt and fish in upstate New Jersey.  This year, Favre didn't have to deal with OTA's (Organized Team Activities) or the beginning of training camp because he didn't want to deal with living in a dorm.  Common!  If you still want to play the game, be part of the team and get off the high horse!  I don't care how many MVP's Favre has, if he is going to play football, he should expect to be treated like any other one of the guys, no BS special treatment.

From a football perspective, sure the Minnesota Vikings are a better team...for now.  So were the Jets last year when we acquired him and we all know how that ended.  Remember, Favre still has that injured rotator cuff and I don't care if he had surgery or not, Chad Pennington was never as goo a quarterback after he had the same surgery...twice.  Favre does have an advantage with playing for the Vikings.  He has Adrian Peterson, the best running back in the NFL, behind him.  Favre also has the advantage of having the playbook that he knows like the back of his hand at his disposal.  Though I have many reservations about the whole thing, the Vikings might now be the best team in the NFC because when Favre is healthy and comfortable, he's invincible.

Am I going to take my Favre Jersey out of retirement?  No, I'm going to buy myself a Mark Sanchez Jersey, but I do think that the Vikings are a much stronger team than they were yesterday.  I don't think the Vikings handled the situation is a honest or appropriate way, but what's done is done and now all there is to do is wait.  Brett Favre will be the starting QB this Friday against the Chiefs so we'll see what happens.  All I know is that when Favre and the Vikings head to Green Bay Week 4, Brett won't be welcomed back with open arms.  Also, if I was the Vikings, I'd be keeping an eye on that arm.  Without any other problems though, the Vikings just might be unstoppable.

It would be great if the NFL shop would offer a Brett Favre jersey Value Pack. Wouldn't it be easier to print a #4 jersey for every team and then bundle them together so true Favre fans can be prepared for anything week to week?

I agree completely!

I agree...the whole skipping camp routine reminds me of the special treatment that Barry Bonds got when he was playing. You would think that Favre would put up with the conditions in order to bond with his new teammates.

No Joke! You would think he learned from last year as many of the Jets players couldn't stand him partly because he made no effort to get to know them.

It's unfortunate that Favre's Legacy has to linger on like this. The only thing that will justify his actions is to win the Super bowl & MVP

I am amazed someone is STILL willing to sign him! I used to like Brett Favre but seriously ... please just stay retired.
