Scariest New Restaurant Foods

If you thought nothing could top KFC's Double Down Sandwich, well think again!  These five foods somehow manage to beat down the Double Down calorically.
Denny's Fried Cheese Melt
It's your typical grilled cheese sandwich, but with a twist -- it contains deep-fried mozzarella sticks.  Coming in at 1,260 calories, 63g of fat and 3,010 grams of sodium...this sandwich is why America is obese.

As one reviewer put it, "It's really like the grilled cheese sandwich is smuggling the mozzarella sticks into your stomach."
IHOP New York Cheesecake Pancakes
With a crustless cheesecake mix in between two buttermilk pancakes, this dish comes in at 1,270 calories in a short stack... You could eat 28 McNuggets and get the same caloric intake.

Friendly's Grilled Cheese BurgerMelt
Who would've thought to put a BLT in between two grilled cheese sandwiches?  Oh wait, Friendly's did, and it comes in at 1,500 calories and 97 grams of fat. These sort of food metrics should be used to quantify a family of five's meal, not one person's sandwich.

Uno Chicago Grill Lobster BLT Thin Crust Pizza
Thought a BLT between two grilled cheese sandwiches was gluttonous?  Well, UNO puts their BLT on a pizza.  With lobster.  Whatever happened to the classic cheese pizza anyway?  This new invention will take your dinner tally up to 1530 calories and 87 grams of fat. Strap on the feed bag and dig in.

Applebee's Provolone-Stuffed Meatballs with Fettuccine
Move over regular fettuccine alfredo with regular meatballs. There's a new kind of meatball in town and it's filled with CHEESE.  These bad boys takes the cake with 1,550 calories and 97 grams of fat. OINK OINK.

Will the consumer get a stent with the purchase of any of these meals? Maybe a free ride to the ER? Unbelievable!

I am amazed. I knew about the pancakes but not about any of the other dishes. I am speechless.

Doesn't anyone understand the word "gross" out there?

Okay, am I the only one completely baffled by Denny's Fried Cheese Melt? So you have a grilled cheese, which is comprised of fried bread with cheese in the center. Now, that I can handle (especially with some fresh home made tomato soup). But to add fried cheese sticks (which contain cheese and, that's right, more fried breading) seems painfully superfluous. I don't get it. It's like sausage filled with pepperoni or something. Talk about overkill!

OMG this is awful!! What a great list you have; and awful that people actually eat this stuff!! You're so right about the obesity and it's no wonder. This is why Americans are so unhealthy and the Asian culture is not; they know how to eat without gorging themselves with fat and calories. Unbelievable!! Cheese is a wonderful food if eaten the right way, but not wedged between food that's already cholesterol-laden! Wonderful list Savvygirl!!

These do not look appetizing at all. I've never seen the Denny's or the Applebee's options on their menus, though. I wonder if it's only for a specific area.

If I could find a diet that allowed a Tacotown Taco, I would be a very happy man. :-)

Interesting list. It is amazing how many ways you can combine salt, fat and sugar. It's a wonder any of us are able to walk around.

I am a pig for fast food, I don't think I could eat any of this. Great list.

As the person who created the 16 awesome fried foods that were already unhealthy before they were fried list, I guess it's only appropriate that a first glance at this list made me salivate :P  Seriously though, just staring at the picture of the burgermelt is giving me heartburn, which says a lot.  Great list, Susan!  I wonder what these chain restaurants will come up with next...
