Panther Martin Deluxe Lures

I have been a fan of Panther Martin lures for a long time. My grandfather used them for Trout fishing when I was a boy. At that time there was just the regular classic Panther Martins, Mepps and Rooster tails. Of these three lures, my grandfather and I both preferred the Panther Martins. Although the Rooster Tails offered a larger selection of colors, the Panther Martins caught more Trout. My grandfather and I fished in the lakes and rivers of Northern California and Southern Oregon. If the Trout were not hitting on our Panther Martins, we would try bottom fishing with a worm or night crawler. In other words, if the Trout were not hitting a Panthers Martin, they more than likely would not hit any spinner. Now Bass and Perch are a whole different story. Bass and Perch may go for a Rooster Tail before a Panther Martin. If you’re fishing for Steelhead, Rainbow Trout, Salmon, German Browns, Native Trout, Brook Trout or just fat old Lake Trout, I would certainly recommend this new series of Deluxe Panther Martins!

How I Fish With This Lure

Spinners are some of the easiest lures to fish with. Especially if your like me and get bored fast. My grandfather could cast his line in a lake and sit for an hour with out reeling his line in. Patience young grasshopper… Me on the other hand have always had to be doing something. So I would put on a spinner and beat the water to death. I must say, spinners seem to work better in water with a current, like a stream or river. Where ever you decide to fish with the Panther Martin, you should not need much, if any weight. Panther Martins are a heavy lure so they get some depth while your reeling it in. However, if you think you need some more weight just throw a split shot on about 18 inches above your swivel. Always use a swivel or your line will get a million twists in it and your reel will turn into a rats nest during one of your casts.

If your fishing in a lake try to get somewhere near the mouth of a stream. All kinds of fish like to hang out around the mouth of an incoming creek. Always cast in different spots and try to reel your lure in at different depths. Remember not to reel too fast. I reel just fast enough to keep the blade spinning. But don’t reel too slow when fish in a lake or you’ll get hung up in the weeds and moss. If they don’t go after your lure, Try some bottom fishing with worms or move to another location. I’ll generally fish an area for a half an hour before I move. While river fishing, always try to find a deeper hole of some kind. I usually find these right after some rapids or falls of some kind. Those big fish like to lay in the cooler, slower water in the bottoms of those deep holes. I fish with all kinds of Panther Martins in these deep holes. I’ll also try worms, roe and flies. If you keep at it, you can usually catch a fish in a deep hole. I also try to get off the beaten path. Walk up or down stream from public parking. The father you get out, the better you will do! I hope this helps, good luck fishing!

Final Thoughts

Panther Martins are the best built spinner on the market. There just is not much that can break or go wrong. The lures are strong and durable. They’re built with a strong gauge wire that's twisted into an eye on the leading end. The eye is followed by a concave shaped spoon. This spoon is said to agitate fish. The spoon is followed by a solid bullet shaped body. Lastly, there is a Mustard treble hook. These Mustard hooks are very sharp and a good quality hook.

The main difference between this series of Panther Martins and their classic series is it’s unique bullet shape and the solid colors. I generally have good luck while fishing with the Solid Gold Lure & Spoon, as well as the Solid Silver Lure & Spoon. I use smaller lures when I fish for the brooks and native trout. These are pretty small fish. I use the large lures when I fish for the Steelhead, Rainbows and Salmon. You can also apply your fish attractants to the body of these lures. Another good thing that I like about any Panther Martin lure and especially this series is their awesome casting accuracy and distance. These lures are solid and heavy, like a bullet. When you give them a cast, they really go! I would recommend the Panther Martin Deluxe Series to anyone who fishes for Steelhead, Dolly Vardon, Rainbow Trout, Golden Trout German Browns or Salmon. These lures are some of my most valued and used lures in my tackle box! I give the Panther Martin Deluxe Lures five of five stars.
