Sakura (aka Cherry Blossom) is fleeting. Maximum period we get to see it in full bloom annually is 3-4 weeks. Mostly, simply 10-14 days. Sakura is my most favorite flower. I've seen it in bloomed a couple of times in different parts of Japan, Canada & China. It's a flower that is synonymous with Spring!

It's a
(national) flower

It's a festival

It's a dance (Miyako Odori)

It's a mochi

It's a cake

It's a scent

It's a bento (lunch box)

It's a print

It's an anime

It's a Japanese coin

It's a national gift... a gift of between friends!

It's the Spring of Life! Kirei! Like a butterfly!
Like a butterfly! Like a butterfly!

This is one of the things I'd most like to see-the cherry blossoms in kyoto. I'd even settle for Washington! But a couple of the photos have disappeared. =(

That's the idea ;-) Thanks for the support :-) I love Sakura and I'm trying to find out if there's anywhere nearby that I can at least get a glimpse of!

Fleeting, beautiful & fragile. The flower of Spring! Japan's 'national' flower, the Cherry Blossom!

cherry blossom is the name for the flower of cherry trees known as Sakura (Japanese kanji : 桜 or 櫻; hiragana: さくら) in Japanese. In English, the word "sakura" is equivalent to the Japanese flowering cherry.[1][2] Cherry fruit (known in Japanese as sakuranbo) comes from another species of tree.
