Vigilante is a revenge flick in the style of 70's Italian Crime films (He even shot it in CinemaScope). Robert Forester plays Marino, an average working joe who's family is attacked by an inner city street gang. When the justice system fails him, Marino can't take it anymore and with the help of his co-workers takes revenge on the street scum. Sophisticated trash from William Lustig (It looks and feels sleazy). The film has an all star cult film line up. Featuring Fred "The Hammer" Williamson, Joe Spinell, Woody Strode, Carol Lynley, Frank Pesce and Rutyana Alda.

Ultra violence Lustig style.  I really like this film.  The score is rocking and the acting is real good (for a exploitation flick).  Joe Spinell plays a sleazy lawyer, Woody Strode steals some scenes as a convict who looks out for Marino when he's sent o Rikers Island for contempt.  Fred Williamson starts of the show by delivering a monologue about standing up to street punks.  If you like revenge films then you'll want to check this one out. Some versions have a tacked on epilog that's meant for some markets that frown upon vigilantism (China, Malaysia, cable TV).
