Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (MMPR) was the unexpected hit and gold mine that Fox had in its hands in 1993. Originally, the show was set to end after episode 40 (Doomsday Part 2) on November 24, 1993, but the show had taken America's youth by storm. Demands for more could not be ignored and for 15 years the Power Rangers franchise remained a top sci-fi/fantasy live action series enjoyed mostly by young boys.

The toy line was also a huge success and remained a top seller as well; often the #1 seller. MMPR eventually had a movie in theaters in 1995 with surprisingly meager earnings ($37 million) which preceded the last of three seasons. MMPR aired its last episode on February 17, 1996 (Hogday Afternoon Part 2). The series in itself "morphed" into Power Rangers Zeo (season 4) which debuted on April 20, 2006.

Oh man, I loved the Power Rangers! Extra loved the girl ones of course. Did you have any favorites? :) I had their toys as well. They should've been on my Toy Fads list!

Jason was my favorite. He came back to the show in season 4, which, as a kid, was like Christmas day! Disney, its new owner, revamped MMPR and it is re-airing the show with new effects and sounds. It's pretty cheesy however and actually cheapens the show further than its already low production values.

That was my brother's favorite, too, only because my brother's name is also Jason :P I've never seen the new one before, but I feel like seeing that would ruin my memory of the Power Rangers!
