Find what you're looking for!

Searching for television content on the internet can be ridiculously time-consuming. Can’t quite remember what network your favorite show is playing on? Try sifting through the unending number of Google search pages for your show until you finally get a link that isn’t a review, a blog, or a blog review. You will soon discover what many like me have already discovered – that despite the billions of possible shows to watch online, they often aren’t easy to find.

A few weeks ago Clicker.com revealed itself to the public after a successful beta existence. Billed as the “TV Guide for the Internet”, Clicker.com meticulously scours the internet for all of your favorite shows. Just as you would with any search engine, you enter in your query and the results that appear are actual shows with content you are looking for. How refreshing!

Clicker.com is a Frankenstein-like creation that is part search engine, part online directory, and part TV Guide. Matching users to the information they seek increases the audience for online content by providing a reliable database of shows. This means that instead of just being another video search engine that relies on tags that may or may not be accurate – Clicker has their own proprietary structured database that is designed to be accurate. Better yet, Clicker has teamed up with Boxee to provide even better access to the online shows that you actually want to watch.

In order to stay on the good side of the content providers, Clicker only provides links to legally available content. That means no Pirate Bay or other various Torrent sites that “borrow” content without paying for it are listed when you search for a particular show or movie. On the other hand, you won’t accidentally download a virus masquerading as an illegal downloaded movie either – so you can take the good with the legally acquired content.

The site is easy to navigate and kindly anticipates your search entries. It also provides a full summary of the show and content category links. In addition, once you’ve selected a show or content it suggests other related content that you might enjoy.  The design is fresh, simple and intuitive.

So, I’m happy because Clicker has made life that much easier for me.  What are you waiting for? Get started!

When I was first reading your review, I thought, "This is such a nice addition to Boxee", then when I read that they teamed up, I thought, "Awesome!".  Those two services really do go hand in hand.  Thanks for the great review, Bethany! :)
