Racist American Voting? Top 24 Results Show on American Idol

Wow, this episode was a surprise, at least for me. I did not agree with America concerning half of the people that were eliminated tonight, one female and one male singer. I did agree with America's other two choices. Seriously, one was just a joke and the other was too forgettable compared to some of the other talents. What truly disappointed me was the ethnicities of two of my favorites who were sent home. I often wonder if America views and judges the contestants based on how they look and sound (color and accents). If this night was any indication, then they do.

The best parts about this episode were the guest stars: Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta. I enjoyed both performances, especially Kris' since all purchases of his song on iTunes were being donated to help Haiti (at least for that night). I hadn't heard much from Allison, so it was nice to see her succeeding in the music industry. Originally, she had been one of my favorites in season 8 until her performances all started sounding the same. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the song she was singing. Kris' was ten times better.

As far as results shows go, this one was disappointing other than the guest performers.

Good review. Yeah, I liked how you brought up the ethnicity issue. It seems right from the get go that if you're a certain race, then you're at a disadvantage right from the start. I know that there have been minorities that have won AI before, but still, it seems as if America does make those judgments early on for the most part and as a result, talented individuals get tossed early. It's sad.

Yeah, I was looking over the past winners and most have been Anglo except Ruben Studdard (season 2) and Fantasia Barrino (season 3). These two winners are African American. Jordin Sparks won in season 6, and I she is multi-racial, so that was pretty sweet. To be honest, it was quite a shock that Ruben one...I think it was because his competition was a REAL nerd. Fantasia and Jordin had impeccable talents, so I would have been angry if they had lost. I haven't watched the most recent result's show, so I don't know how the numbers are looking. Jason was saying I was going to lose my last Mexican contestant! (cries) I want a Hispanic to win! ;)

That's an interesting theory that I haven't even begun to ponder yet! I haven't seen this yet, but I've got to Youtube Allison Iraheta in it! Great review, Adrianna! :)

Yeah, neither have I. I'm watching the show with a more critical eye this year. So, we'll see how it pans out. So far, most of the visibly ethnic contestants have already gotten out if that's any indication. You should watch this week's episodes and let me know what you think of the result's show. I'm curious if I am the only one that felt this way with the top 24.

Allison did a great performance, but I think she's had better songs. She was always such an interesting contestant when she was on the show.

Thanks for reading and commenting on my review! :D
