I have been watching American Idol religiously since season 2. My mom is the one who got me started at the end of Season 1 when Kelly Clarkson won the title. I absolutely love this show now - it is the best of reality TV. I mean you're getting the best of the best with this show.
COMEDY - You get to watch people who think they can sing make fools of themselves during pre-show auditions, it's as good as watching someone fall or trip really bad (as long as they don't get hurt). I mean, I still have not forgotten the "She Bangs, She Bangs" contestant - William Hung. I still laugh thinking about that.
ROMANCE - Can you hear the bird chirps between Simon and Ryan Seacrest?
DRAMA - Have you watched Season 8 lately? The women AND guys on that show can't hold it together. It's a big crying fest - from Brooke's weekly sob stories to David Cook's high blood pressure and Christy Lee Cook's horse. And that's the just the start of it - just watch elimination night. I mean shouldn't they be jumping out of their seats with joy when someone gets eliminated and it's not them!
GOOD LOOKS - Michael Johns, aka Sexy Australian Man, where are you? I really liked his song choices by the way. I still blame Simon for getting him voted off the show. Are you happy you got rid of my only eye candy on that show?
AWKWARD MOMENTS - Paula's outfits and every time she speaks. Although lately she's been able to finish her sentences, so that's a HUGE improvement. But still, you can see the contestants looking to the right towards Simon eagerly awaiting the end of her feedback.
TALENT - Okay, there is definitely a lot of talent on the show and that's also a reason why the show is so appealing. For once, you can watch a star in the making - literally. I especially love the before and after photos - Day of the auditions to their last day on the show - those fashion stylist and hair stylist are working hard. Watch the guys eye brows closely.
NEWS - That's the best part of American Idol, we can all report back the day after the show and analyze the performances and share our projections of who will be X'd next. We can talk about the David Archuleta's cheesy dance moves and Christy Lee Cook's heavy eye shadow, we can talk about David Cooks killer musical renditions and Michael John's amazing Queen interpretations! American Idol, gives us the chance to be the experts - not RollingStone Magazine.

Oh there is so much more, but this just a taste of the American Idol fever. Who will be the winner? We'll see. David Cook is already a star in my eyes. David Archuleta is cute and he has a great voice but is he an American Idol?

Oops! Just realized your review is about Season 7 actually, right? So they're on 8 now from what I can tell. I was going to update the data point, but looks like it's actually last season that needs to be created.

I haven't watched American Idol for a couple seasons now.. but I do remember that if I didn't watch last night's episode, I would have nothing to talk about at work because everyone would be buzzing on about their performances!

Let's hope that the old cliche, good guys always finish last, is not true in this case! Who's going to win the battle for American pop stardom, well for at least three months?    THE SOULFUL CHRISTIAN MIDWESTERNER:  Kris Allen: The nice guy that's reminiscent of Jack Johnson has done amazing renditions of everything from Michael Jackson ("Remember the Time" and "Man in the Mirror) to Kanye West ("Heartless") to Garth Brooks ("To Make You Feel My Love") to Don Henley …

Why do I love Idol?  Watching young artists with huge dreams makes me feel happy.  Listening to interesting people with interesting stories and then watching them pour their heart and soul into a performance that may or may not make their dream come true makes me root for each one.  Having the idols friends and family members in the audience with looks of adoration and hope shows how lucky they are for that loyalty.  All of it makes for a happy time.  I watch it every week …

This Season of American Idol has some of the same flaws as past seasons and some new ones that illustrate exactly what is wrong with music today.  The contestants overall seem to select sleepy songs that are more suitable for a dentist's office than escaping from the lips of a supposedly youthful and musical 16 year old. Each season has the same type of wannabe idols - a rocker, a country crooner, a heart throb, a diva with a strong voice. Where is the originality? Idol makes the same pocket-book …
