Action & Adventure, Drama, and Television TV show
< read all 4 reviewsI've always enjoyed books about ancient Rome and of course, movies as well. I watched this the first time and was hooked. It shows how hard the life of slaves were in ancient Rome and how cruel they could be. As you get to know the Gladiators, you learn about them, their background and the lives they were leading before becoming slaves. The show lets you get to know the character and to feel for them, well most of them! If you don't like a lot of blood, this is not for you but if you truly curious about Rome and Gladiators, you will like it. I feel it shows how little regard the Romans had for the life of their slaves, treating them at times as if they were invisible or put on this earth for their enjoyment alone. There is a lot of action and how they put this all together is amazing, the fights are so real and by the end of season one, you will be hooked and waiting for the next season to come but not very patiently! The second season will be delayed due to illness by the actor, Andy Whitfield, who plays Spartacus, I hope he recovers soon as I can hardly wait for season two.
