I didn't follow manufacturer recommendations and used these towels without machine washing and drying them first. You know what, they still worked well, and with only a little lint and streaking on my cars' finish. The second time I used them "the proper way", there was no residue at all. I prefer them over microfiber cloths because they have that strange "sticky" feel. These little towels are the perfect size for car washing -- larger than a dish towel but less bulky than a bath towel. Drying my mid-sized sedan used only one towel while my wife's mini-van took two. I find it amazing since these Doctor Joe's Towels seem quite thin, though much plusher than your standard shop towel. They just absorb and absorb and absorb, and still soak up more after that, leaving a streak free finish.
They aren't bulky so you can more easily use them to clean and dry hard to reach places like the spokes on rims or in small crevices. I use one to buff the wax off my paint's finish and it worked great for that as well. A dry towel easily clears of the hazy film from inside my car windows, and they work well applying Rain-X too. I keep one in my glove compartment in case my windows fog in the humid Florida weather.
I really like the idea of the twelve pack since these towels are so useful. I find them a good value since they appear to be holding up well to heavy use. If you don't mind their plain appearance, I think they work even better in the kitchen than regular dish towels due to their larger size. They soak up spills quickly as well. Drying your hair with one of these is a snap as they wick away moisture faster than you would imagine. Their soft terry cloth texture feels good on the skin and small children can use them as bath towels or adults as hand-towels. Doctor Joe's Towels are now dispersed throughout my home and garage -- ready for whatever challenge comes next.
