Another spray, another flavor

Wow... I think I have an obsession with these bugs. I see a Creepshow fate in my future. Well anyway, while exterminating another vacant apartment to prepare for rental, which was held by a very filthy family. I found this can of roach spray sitting underneath the sink. I thought to myself, "these people actually tried to kill the roaches?" After picking up this can of Raid I never seen before, I noticed that the can was actually FULL. Well, that confirmed it, these folks were packing cans of roach spray to make threats. "Get off that plate! I'm going to spray! I mean it this time!"

After looking over this golden can of Raid: Germ Fighter, I learned that one of it's additional purposes was to reduce the germs that roaches and household insects leave behind. Here's the breakdown on what this spray is suppose to do exactly:

-For household use only. Not for use on plants or food contact surfaces.

-Kills roaches and household insects on contact!

-Keeps on killing roaches for up to 4 weeks!

-Plus reduces 99.9% of the household germs that roaches and household insects may leave behind.

I don't know about ants, but I do know that roaches leave behind something, and when it builds up in a single area, such as underneath a sink for example. It will give off a bad odor. For years, I thought it was just the funk of the apartment, but after dealing with several roach infested apartments. I'm convinced the smell is from them. But I'm very unsure if this spray kills any type of germs, because there's no way of telling. Therefore, I think the claim is jibberish.

Since I used so many Raid products, I think it's fine to dismiss the 4 week kill claim. After using the entire can, I noticed that the spray does kill the roaches, but not with the same speed as Raid: Fragrance Free, or Raid: Lemon Scented. In any case, it gets the job done. The spray also claims to be useful against waterbugs, spiders, crickets, and silverfish. However, it says nothing about flies. Well, I tried it on flies today and the results were amazing. It didn't only knock the flies out of the air instantly, but it also killed them almost as quick. In fact, it did quicker damage than Raid: Flying Insect, in which, that spray is meant to kill flies specifically. I find that to be strange.

The spray is listed to have a "clean fresh scent". I don't think the smell is bad or good, but I would definitely go with the first two aforementioned sprays over this, because they're smells are more pleasant. It's also stated that the spray is meant for non food, spot, crack, and crevice treatment only. Correct me if I'm wrong. But isn't it recommended to spray cracks and crevices anyway? What makes this spray so different in that area? I just don't get it.

The spray also comes with several precautions that must be taken. But due to my personal experience I recommend this: be careful when spraying over tiled or wooden panel floors, because they will become very slippery at first. Spray the infested areas, leave, and return later to air them out. This will prevent unnecessary inhaling. In addition, the number one thing that can't be forgotten though, is to think where you would be if you were a roach. For best results, spray under the bathroom and kitchen sinks, all small cracks, inside and around cabinets, underneath coffee makers and toasters while they're off, behind and underneath the refrigerator and freezer. Make sure you cover up or move all dishes, toothbrushes, and razors. Don't spray anywhere near a flame, or hot stoves and microwaves. I will also once again include my personal list to fight off the vermin.

-Wash all your dishes before going to bed. Roaches love dirty dishes, and the night time is when they creep, and the day time is when they hide and multiply.

-Always toss the trash out at night, no matter how lazy you may feel. If you drink a beverage from a can or bottle, wash it out with hot water then throw it away. Especially beer, for some reason roaches are heavily attracted to it.

-Never keep bundles of plastic bags stuffed underneath the sinks or cabinets. Roaches love to hide in that stuff, and when I've sprayed those areas. I would see hundreds or thousands every time. Stop being cheap, buy small garbage bags. Leave the large and extra large bags alone.

-Keep your apartment clean by mopping at least twice a week. But focus on the bathroom and kitchen. Clean all counter tops and sinks with some type of cleaner that contains bleach. If you have pets, then you might want to do these things more often.

-Use Combat about a week and a half after bombing, I'm guessing it does something.

-Bomb the home quarterly, I do this quite often and I'll see a roach once in a blue moon. But I honestly haven't seen one in months.

Personally, I don't see any real difference between this spray from the others. Even though this brand takes care of flies rather well, I prefer the scent from the Flying Insect spray. I recommend the other roach killers before this one. Pick this up if it's the only brand on the shelf.
