There are a lot of different types of Weed & Feed products and "Scotts Miracle Gro Seed" Super Turf Builder is one of them on the market today, so how do you choose which one to buy. The easiest way that I know is to ask the attendant on the floor that stocks the shelves in your local home improvement store. Ever since we started cutting our yards several years ago, we have been using some type or this particular type of spread mix and have never been disappointed with the outcome. Each of these bags weighs just about 50 pounds and will cost you about fifty dollars and you can usually find it cheaper if you purchase this in bulk at a warehouse club. I found this bag for just under fifty dollars at Lowe's. I have also seen this on sale at for $45.99.

Description
This magical stuff comes in several different size plastic bags, this one is a 50 pound bag that will easily fit into the trunk of your car. Each bag will cover 15,000 square feet. You should see some kind of wilting in a few days and completely killing of the weeds in a few weeds. This should help build a stronger root system and that is what helps keep your lawn green and plush. The mixture inside is a semi dark brown in color and can be blown around by the wind. There is enough of this product in one bag to cover a decent size yard. This product has a high concentration of nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium, and also a blended amount of ammonium sulfate (which plays a role in metabolizing the nitrogen that your yard will need for spring), this gives off a strong ammonia odor when mixed with water. This product is used in many fertilizer products that kill weeds.

What should this do for you?
This should do several things for you, and this is kill just about 60 different types of weeds and they are: aster, clover (red), lambsquarter, red sorrel (sheep sorrel), bindweed clover (white), lespedeza (seeding), scarlet pimpernel, bittercress, cudweed, lippie (matchweed), black medic, curly dock, mallow, shepherdspurse, bristly oxtongue, dandelion, moneywort, smartweed, buckhorn, dichondra, morningglory, sow thistle, bull thistle, dollarweed, mustard, spurweed, burclover, English daisy, pennywort, stitchwort, buttonweed, evening primrose, pepperweed, Canada thistle, filaree, pigweed, carpetweed, fleabane, plantain, vetch, catsear (coast dandelion), ground ivy, wild carrot, centella, hackweed, yarrow, chickweed, heal all, purslane, yellow rocket, chicory, henbit, pusley (Florida), cinquefoil, horseweed, pussytoes, clover (hop), knotweed (seeding), ragweed. This also works on a lot of other broad leaf weeds. This will not work well when the temperature gets above 85°. You can spray continually as weed are active and this will also come in handy if you have weeds that like to creep up through the cracks in your driveway and sidewalks.

Warning
This is hazardous to humans and pets.
This can cause eye irritation and is harmful if swallowed. You should avoid getting the overspray on or in your eyes and skin. Also avoid breathing in the spray mist. You should wear long sleeves and goggles when using this product. Make sure that you wash your hands after you get done. Plus, you have to be careful around flowering gardens, because the over spray or mist might get on your flowers and possibly kill them.

Experience
There is only a few things that you should know when using this weed and feed winterizer, you can either use a walk behind spreader or just throw it out with your hand, but make sure that you water slightly before you apply. Plus. Make sure that you do not cut your lawn for at least 48 hours after spreading this on your lawn. I have found that the best time to spread this product is in the fall, but I have used this at any time that I see fit. You will need to make sure that you spread the winterizer thoroughly to get it on all of your yard. You will also have to make sure that you stretch out the amount in the bag if you use your hand, all the way to the end and work your way back. As I soon found out, no matter what size yard that you choose to this on for your needs, you will need to make sure that you pick enough bags to do the whole job. Once you have chosen one that you want, you will need to make sure that you use the proper setting when using a spreader. Too much of this stuff will kill the lawn or leave burn out spots. While applying this product you should make the paths overlap each other. This will help in making sure that the soil will absorb the product all the way to the roots and get the lawn going in the right direction. This is kind of like walking throughout your yard and telling the weeds that it is time for them to go. You will be able to see how much this helps by the results that you see the after the first spring.

Once you have spread this across your lawn, you should be careful not to let too much more water down onto the ground, spray lightly on the grass and soil to provide stability and to get the fertilizer to stay put and not be blown away. When this is done you need to wait to water the lawn heavily for a few days. If you do this in a similar way to the back yard, you should get positive results, just the way that we have. Every year we do this the same way and our lawn is a nice deep green and weed free. All of our neighbors are always complimenting us on our lawn.

There are a few things that you should also consider if you want to make this a successful weed and feed springtime affect. These are, you will have to make sure that you have the proper weather, and before you do use water make sure each time that it is not going to rain. In addition to all of this, don't forget that sooner is better than later, you may have to weed and feed your lawn again and again just to keep the weeds under control. The most important thing to remember, is that you will need to place the empty container in the recycle bin to help the environment.

Conclusion
If you are having trouble with your grass staying alive all winter long, I have found this to be the miracle cure for all of my problems. There is really no time that we really have to worry is when we go in vacation. But, for the most part this stuff will take care of all of your weedy plants and winter feeding. I can highly recommend this product. This will show some visual affects of dying weeds and a nice green lawn the first spring after you use this. You can use this on Kentucky Blue Grass, ryegrass, fine fescue, and tall fescue. The types of lawns that they recommend not to use this on is: St. Augustinegrass, creeping bent grass, carpet grass, dichondra, and lippia lawns. Other than that this works great on my lawn, so apparently I do not have any of these types of grass.
