There's a reason my friends call me a Trader Ho

As the headline states, yes, there's a reason why my friends call me a Trader Ho.  It's because, well, I am.  I'm a ho for Trader Joe's, and I'm not afraid to admit it (I'm also a Cost-Ho, but you can read about that in another review!).

First of all, I love how organized their store is and how they mostly only sell their own line of food products.  This takes the hassle out of having to compare different brands and prices.  Their foods are fresh, mostly healthy and a lot of it is organic.  Plus, there's something about Trader Joe's products that has an added deliciousness to it.  For instance, their crumbled gorgonzola, grated parmesan and dried pastas taste unlike any other I've ever had.  I can't describe it; it just has to be tried.  The icing on the cake: Their prices are extremely reasonable.

Besides the low reasonable prices, the other icing on the cake is the great customer service.  The employees are always cheerful and more than willing to help me when I need it.  As someone who has worked in an industry where good customer service is crucial, I highly approve.

My favorite products at Trader Joe's besides the crumbled gorgonzola, grated parmesan and dried pastas: Frozen mac 'n cheese, spanakopita, organic orange juice, organic low-fat yogurt, variety of raw nuts, herb salad, fruit leathers, freeze-dried fruits (including the hard-to-find mangosteen), n'aan, curry-in-a-box, apple pie, cheesecake, pound-plus chocolate... Okay, the list goes on and on.  Just nevermind, I think I got my point across.  Oh wait, I have add one more thing - $2 wine.  Yes, two dollars.  Great for cooking.

For all those reasons above, I am proud to be a Trader Ho.

Shame there aren't any Trader Joe's where I live.

Sounds like a good place

We don't have any Trader Joe's stores around here, but it would be terrific if we did. I'm tired of shopping at the same three stores. Great review and that's a funny video. By the way, if anyone calls you a ho, beat them over the head with the frozen mac and cheese. ; )

Thanks, Count!  Every neighborhood needs a Trader Joe's!  You should fill out this form.  If anyone calls me a ho, it better have Trader in front of it, because otherwise, yes, frozen mac 'n cheese oer the head ;P

And make sure it's the economy sized frozen mac and cheese. ; )

I need to write to Trader Joe's about that!

Just e-mail them a link to the review.

BestWine Ever! although they recently had a beef recall :P be careful. There's a good one in 14 Street
November 16, 2009
Yes, their wine selection is great! Did not hear about that beef recall though, but I don't think I've ever bought beef products from them before, so I think I'm good. Thanks for the heads up though! :)

I spend waaaaay too much in Trader Joe's - especially now they opened one near Larkspur and it's the cleanest supermarket in the world.

Uh oh, prepare to find yourself there every lunch hour!

I used to work at Trader Joes and as a former employee it was a great place to work as well as and still is a great place to shop!

When I first moved to the States and didn't really know where to shop, I avoided Trader Joe's because I thought it was one of the more expensive places. That was just based on the kind of products they stock and the general vibe. After a while, I discovered it's cheaper than most places. Dunno about the 2 buck chuck tho. That stuff gives me a headache after a couple of sips!

I used to think TJ's was hella expensive, too, before I started shopping there.  Turns out that for what you get, it's actually less expensive than a lot of the other chain supermarkets out there.  I've acquired a slightly more mature palette for wine, so I stopped drinking two buck chuck.  Now I just use it for cooking!

I'm also a Trader Ho, Tori...I love their "biggest almonds in the world," Hansen's creamy diet root beer and Trader Giotto's famous four cheese pizza....you can't get much better than that. I've shopped at the the Trader Joe's in L.A., Santa Fe and St. Louis. I'm a true Trader ho and proud of it!

I also am a lover of the $2 wine...2 buck chuck is almost as good as it gets.

Let me just start by apologizing to all devout-Trader Joe's shoppers. I know, I've been there.      In fact, I started shopping there more than 20 years. Very friendly employees, fun & colorful packaging, easy to handle and perfect for bachelor/ettes & college students, loooow prices, and kitchy titles on self-branded items.      But my boyfriend & I no longer patron them. This is why: Processed foods from far away places (talk about 1500 …

A great choice if you want food without a lot of crap in it but don't want to pay crazy prices. Also, great selection of fairly priced wines. Love the honey moon, velvet moon...any of the moons!

Trader Joe's Baskets
Seriously though, it's like my little oasis.  A truly happy place.  My kid gets a balloon... I get amazing selection of what is basically a curated grocery experience, crazily low prices (without any coupons or weird club cards) and a wide array of healthy options -- from organic, to vegan, to just plain yummy.  Feels like that small neighborhood market my mom took us to as kids, when we lived in this little hippie enclave in the midwest.      It really comes …

I was first introduced to Trader Joe's when I was attending college in California, but it probably wasn't until I moved to New York that I realized how much I loved that little grocery store. When they opened their first store in Manhattan off of Union Square, it was clear they had severely underestimated how much value people placed on their brand and their products. With many Californians living in New York City the store is always bustling, and there are typically two long check out lines …

I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's grocery stores, although I can''t shop there exclusively because they don't have the, er, bad, unhealthy junk food I like. For example, Pepsi. Hey, a girl occasionally needs some Cool Ranch Doritos and Oreos in her life.     Mostly when I go I buy prepared and frozen dishes, because they are fantastic here. Trader Joe's doesn't stock much, if anything, that's not high quality food. (And by this I mean no high fructose corn syrup …

One of the Best Grocers
I don't have a Trader Joe's near me, and that is the only reason I don't give them 5 stars. It would be nice if they had an online store too.      Otherwise, I love their products and philosophy. Great tasting, wholesome food at affordable prices. Their Red Pepper (and Eggplant) spread (formerly Pinjur) is to die for. Trader Joe's gathers tasty treats from across the globe and puts them under one roof. Their stores and marketing have an old-timey …

Here in Louisville we are being told a Trader Joe's is coming soon. With all of the great things I've read about it on here I'm looking forward to it.

Gotta love Trader's! Though it's always annoyingly congested inside this grocery store, I still go for the unique food products and cheap variety of wine. Their layout is convenient and easy to navigate (so helpful when you want to get in and out!) and I've always found their staff to be very friendly. A must-go for healthy food.

Sunflower butter Wasabi peas Middle eastern hummus/falafel mix More soymilk variation than Safeway has toothpastes "Two buck chuck", or more importantly, a whole case of booze for $28 (yes, that's California CRV tax for you rather than my math) 19 cent bananas and $1.99 steamed beets Organic fruit in plastic boxes $1.99 grapefruit juice and $2.99 OJ "NOT FROM CONCENTRATE" Samples including pizza and fresh coffee, both in microscopically small servings A "Weightwatcher's …

Good for lots of neat wines, beers and spirits... their produce selection is poor and most of their other products are typically not local to the stores they are sold in and are typically pre prepared and frozen goods. Asian markets, farmer's markets, Raley's Bevmo and Cost Plus make this place look like a joke.
