King (CNNbrk) lost out to Kutcher! The 1st to cross 1 million followers, that is.
Oprah is tweeting now. What next? Obama too?!
Well, looks like Twitter is now officially mainstream! Better march your way to twitterland and start tweeting, or is that twittering? ...

Behind the scene:

P.S. I'm trying to keep this review short and sweet, the very notion of a tweet! Do check out the videos if you'd like to explore more of Twitter. Essentially, Twitter is still what its users make it to be and I love the fact that it's a simple but powerful tool! How so? Try it for yourself and discover if it's something that's tailored to your very needs. I did find Lunch from Tweeter and that speaks for itself!

Updates March 2010:
So, now the question is again asked of Twitter. Most of Twitter users are not active, almost 75% have lost interest one way or another (me included). Too many are simply followers but tweeting what others tweeted, somewhat like 'parrots'. What is Twitter's profit model? I listen to this video but found no concrete answers.

Newsflash to Sharrie: Obama already tweets! :P

In regards to your BusinessWeek video embed, you should use the feedback button in the upper right corner to tell Lunch exactly what's up!

Thanks! I have him on following as well, but how can u be sure it's him? Did send feedback, but no news so far.

Aw, I hope you hear from them soon. They've probably been busy because of the launch!

I've always assumed that BarackObama was updated by Obama's people, but not actually him.  I hope Obama starts micro-blogging himself so that we can all read about the life of the world's coolest president, 140 characters or less at a time :)

Spot on! It's cool hearing from the president himself, not White House. Having said that, there is some thrill being followed by BarackObama, hahaha... I'm being egoistic ;-)

That's something to brag about!
April 30, 2009
I'll brag about it IF he personally tweets me! On twitter? Perhaps I can brag about Richard Quest too, lol... it's good fun while it lasts!

I love Twitter. I try to only speak in 140 characters or less. Follow me!

After reading Kitty_Salinas' micro review I though it would be helpful to share how I deal with the over tweeters or TMI'ers. Below is my six step program that I have been using for a few weeks and it seems to help.     Stop sending them to your device via SMS (in my case the iPhone), they talk way too much to be constantly notified of their updates... (See step 5) Create and use Twitter lists to segment the people you follow into smaller more relevant groups of people. …

I have a love-hate relationship with twitter.  Everything about twitter is a catch-22 to me.  On the one hand, it's kind of creepy that the entire interweb has the capability of seeing me update on the go, as well as the fact that it sends notices to twitter members who choose to be updated on my status, it's also, well, simply put, FUN.  As well as convenient and super easy to update.    Pros  -It's fun to update!  Currently, it can be updated through …

I'm not afraid to admit it, I'm completely addicted to Twitter.     In case you haven't read the other reviews, and never took the time to check out twitter.com; Twitter is an online communication tool that allows you to post a "micro-blog" post of only 140 characters or less.     I started using Twitter about a year ago but it took me a few months to realize the potential that this tool has. One thing is for sure, I can tell why some may hear about the buzz, …

OK, maybe I lied a little in my review title. I kind of get why people would use Twitter, if they're the type to want to follow their favourite celebrity or just want to get the odd news snippet, but apart from that, I simply don't get the appeal. I can't be accused of not giving it a go as I've tried twice. Two times I have logged into Twitter with the sincere intention of joining in with the fad and following my favourite celebrities such as Stephen Fry, Charlie Brooker and David Mitchell; but …

Who would have thought 140 characters would have changed the landscape of Social Networking? Everyone seems to be using Twitter. Celebrities, politicians, television channels, spammers, you name it they're probably on Twitter or working out a plan to use it.      I didn't get Twitter when I first got an account. It's got a learning curve that's curiously harder to grasp than I thought. I'm an avid Twitter user and for a number of reasons.      I refused to …

The word sounds so funny to me. Tweet. Back in 2008 we as a world fell into this craze called Twitter.  It has actually been around a lot longer than that but gained popularity then.  I have mixed feelings on Twitter because I feel it can hurt someone but on the other side of things, make someone very successful.  Do I have a twitter account.  Yes, for website publicity.  A personal twitter account. No.  I will admit that I used to have a personal …

When I first heard about Twitter - I'll admit - I was hesitant to sign up. I just didn’t see the appeal or value in using this IM-based social networking and microblogging service with all the other alternatives out there (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.). And I just couldn’t fathom why anyone would give a hoot…uh…tweet as to what I was doing? I’m not Angelina Jolie or an American Idol. I’m just a simple girl, with extraordinary goals.      …

if you use it right...
twitter's value is all dependent on how you use it. some people follow just celebrities and news feeds, and receive value from the service that way. i, personally do not see that as beneficial.       however, if you find people that are in your field, vocation or hobby, and actually use the service to interact with those groups of people, you can gain valuable connections.       i also don't think twitter is for everyone. i only really started enjoying …

I've grown to really find the various ways you can use Twitter very helpful. Below are some tips and ways to help understand Twitter more, especially for new users or people trying to build up their following.       Everybody is welcome to chime in if I missed anything!       Two Things I've Learned About How Twitter is Different      1. Twitter is not your status update. Before recently, I used to think of Twitter as a platform …

I'm on Facebook, I Tweet and I Digg 'em; therefore I am....
For years MySpace had taken the world by storm as the social networking giant, then came Facebook, Twitter, Digg and all those who came running in after them to cash in on the social media craze.  Myself, I joined Facebook almost two years ago, followed by Twitter and Digg last year.  I joined Facebook for family and friends as well as to reconnect with old friends and classmates.  I have even made some interesting networking contacts.  :It seems that just about everyone and …

About this website

Wiki

Twitter is a micro-blogging service that allows users to update with text messages of up to 140 characters in length. Users can also read updates from others by going to users' pages or by "following" them. "Following" allows updates from others to arrive automatically in a feed on a user's Twitter homepage. Twitter functionality is similar to that of Facebook's "status" feature, and both can by synced via Facebook status settings.

Twitter was founded by Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams and launched in early 2006. The site later won a South by Southwest Award in the blog category in March 2007. By mid-2008, Twitter featured over 3M accounts.

In addition to its functionality as a microblogging service, Twitter also features several social networking elements, including public lists of members who are following a user's updates and those who each user is following (although both of these features may be set to private). Twitter also offers a public profile, a scraping mechanism to find and invite people a user knows through email accounts, and a minimally customizable page.
