I recently began planning my honeymoon and couldn't help but explore some of the most exotic, 5-star honeymoon resorts in the world (a girl can dream, can't she?!). These resorts host some of the most fantastic, gorgeous, unbelievably romantic (and expensive) honeymoon suites a couple can find.
Truth be told, if I could stay anywhere for my honeymoon, this would be the place. It's beautiful, warm, exotic, romantic and a hut over the ocean waters adds a bit of adventure into the mix. Not only do these bungalows provide privacy, but also serious luxury. Each comes with it's own deck, plunge pool, dining area, and views of the lagoon as well as the green volcanic rock on Bora Bora. And if you like fish, the glass panel floor will keep you entertained with aquatic life for hours. A mere $1,800 a night, but it seems worth every penny!
For starters, it's in the City of Love. Then consider lavish 18th century furnishings, a balcony overlooking quaint tree-lined streets, a view of the Eiffel Tower, a jacuzzi, Italian marble bathrooms, a Turkish bath, and decadent chandeliers. Oui, it's pretty much your own private palace. It doesn't come cheap though! The Royal Suite is a grand total of $26,000 per night!
It just doesn't get any better than this! Look at this photo! This Maldives resort is surrounded by gorgeous blue ocean waters. Their over-the-top suite is called the Grand Water Villa, complete with panoramic water views (of course!). You can enjoy tanning, reading, writing or whatever you might like, on their private terrace. When the sun gets too hot, take a swim in your own private pool. Rooms start at $4,000 a night.
Our very own @jrjohnson has stayed at this lovely hotel, so you know that it's got to be amazing! In fact, J.R. wrote a review about his hotel experience, saying it was "one of the nicest Four Seasons I've seen". Check out his review for the full scoop!
Miami has it own sexy, Latin vibe. Pair that cultural charm with the dark and sultry Oriental influences of The Setai and you have one of the most exotic and romantic honeymoon destinations in the world. Teak, cool granite and shimmering oriental pools give this hotel a soothing Asian vibe. Intimate, private and exclusive, basic rooms start at $900.
The Napa wine country basically spells romance, but this hotel takes it up another notch. The hotel includes breathtaking views of the vineyards, peaceful sunsets, olive trees,a private pool and fantastic wine and food. Nothing creates a great honeymoon more than a fantastic culinary experience and a bit of vino!
The Italians basically created romance. So what better place to spend your first days of marriage than on the Amalfi Coast. Palazzo Sazzo has stunning views atop a 1,000 foot cliff that looks out on the Mediterranean. The suites are decorated in Vietri tiles, antique carpet, and furniture from the 17th century. If you want to go all out, the Infinito Suite is one of the largest and most beautiful in the entire world. In addition to a bedroom, living room, jacuzzi and shower, the suite has a second floor with enormous terrace, jacuzzi pool and dining area. Ah, amore!
Hong Kong is not only one of the most amazing, cosmopolitan cities in the world, it is perhaps also one of the most romantic as well! The Intercontinental Hong Kong is a 17-story hotel overlooking Hong Kong Island and the Victoria Harbor. If you want the real deal, you'll ask for the "Under the Stars" package where you can sleep in the open air on the top floor terrace. Enjoy privacy, an infinity jacuzzi, panoramic views, a private dinner, champagne, 24 hr butler service, and a couples spa treatment. Sounds and looks lovely, doesn't it? Well, it's yours for only $14,000. Yep, maybe romance is overrated.

Thank you for the well wishes!! I know, these hotels are so amazing that we should all get married at least once a year, just so we can try them all out:)
Great list. I don't mean to brag but ive stayed at #1 and #4 and I've had drinks at #5 and #6. Your #1 bora bora is unbelievable!! Even though we got food poisoning there... It was still great!!

Thanks, J.R.! You have had some amazing travels! What did you think of The Setai? I'm considering it for an upcoming bachelorette party weekend. It looks pretty swanky.

it was cool. We had a drink there, but it wasn't in the main bar section... or at least i hope not because it was kind of small and didn't have the open lobby feel to it. The design is different than the other classic South Beach hotels like the Delano. The Delano is all white with huge flowing curtains.... pretty cool. Setai is way more low key from what i remember.
Wowwww.....I'm literally drooling over these pics! #1 is definitely on my must-do-before-I-die list! Also, I owe you some congrats on your marriage :) You and I can dream but, we may have to research a budget-friendly option of this list LOL...there's actually a great article about budget-friendly honeymoon travel in this month's Brides. If you look around, there's even more than that! GREAT LIST!

Thanks, Sam! So much wedding planning to do and getting the honeymoon squared away is top of my list:) I'm totally working on a budget honeymoon hotel list for us too!! Thanks for sharing the article, I'll take a look at it.
When are you getting married? There's so many great resources out there and I can help you out too!
Bethany_KDecember 16, 2010
Actually, this next May...Memorial weekend!!! You are getting married in May too, right? What is your date? I've only had three months to get everything on the books, but so far most things are taken care of. I still need to get programs and menus squared away and I haven't yet found a bakery for the cake. What creative resources are you using? We should definitely compare notes:)

YAY! I have a wedding planning buddy....MAN, I wish I lived closer because it's much more fun over cocktails! Yeah, we're getting married May 15, last week of the off season and a Sunday (saved me $18K, can you believe it?!?). I'm on invites right now, which is a pain. I've finalized the menu and the cake's included in the per person cost of the reception (THANK GOD!) but, we'll schedule our tastings for both along with meeting the photog/videog, etc in January. Are you getting married close to where you live?

These are all great hotels. I'll check out Bvlgari Hotel in Bali too if I were you. Actually I did pop in when I was in Bali 2 years ago. It's one of the newest and most chic in Bali. Another one would be the Amankila. Personally, Burj Al Arab in Dubai & Amankora in Bhutan are my dream hotels for honeymoon :-)

Thanks, Sharrie! I just checked out the Bvlgari, what a beautiful spot and so hip! I've heard of the Burj Al Arab too and think it looks impressive. The Amankora also has a such a luxurious, but modern and simple style. I would happily go to any one of these!!! Bali is top of the list though:)
