Pros:reasonable price, newly remodeled, great bed, nice spa Cons:none offhand The Bottom Line: Why-O, Why-O do I continue to return to Ohio?
Another trip to Ohio, another hotel. This time I selected Country Inn & Suites, located adjacent to the Port Columbus Airport. I find most of the accommodations near the airport are well appointed, maintained, have a great staff and are loaded with amenities. I wasn't disappointed this time either.
Amenities [room & hotel]: ~Hi-speed internet ~fitrness center ~indoor pool & spa ~complimentary hot breakfast buffet ~cable TV ~coffee maker ~iron/ironing board ~work desk ~children 18 & under stay free ~complimentary airport shuttle ~same day valet dry cleaning ~read it and return lending library
My room: I chose the Country King Suite because I was going to be there several days and wanted the convenience of the fridge & microwave. I also liked the fact that it was a suite type room with separate living and sleeping rooms, divided by french doors. The sofa, which was quite comfortable to just relax on, also made up into a queen size bed. Televisions were in both the living & sleeping areas, as well as telephones. The bathroom was of ample size with soft towels and double ply toilet paper.
They also have a country double queen room available, comprising of two queen beds but no separation between living/sleeping area.
Breakfast: hot waffles, muffins, fresh fruit, bagels, breakfast drinks, coffee/tea, grits, oatmeal, yogurt, danishes, wheat bread. There is also a rotating breakfast of omelet burrito, french toast, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy & rosemary potatoes. Breakfast is served 6-9 M-F; 7-10 S, S. All breakfast items are free and plentiful and a respite from eating out at a restaurant so early in the morning.
Overall: I did not avail myself of the fitness center but I did soak up the spa to my hearts content. The heated indoor pool was still a bit too chill for me. The pool area was appointed with plentiful lounge chairs and towels, accessed by your room key. I enjoyed the breakfast variety as they switched it out twice during my stay.
I found the staff very enjoyable and helpful. Housekeeping was prompt on your requests and since I discovered I had forgotten my toothpaste ... again ... I received a complimentary service at the front desk.
The room I selected was large with great blackout drapes and for once the room temperature was easy to maintain. Television reception was clear and internet was fast and free. I really enjoyed kicking back in my room each night after my trip to the spa, sipping a hot tea and propping my feet up to catch some local television.
Rating this on a scale from the other two place I have stayed on my last two trips, Best Western PLUS and Embassy Suites I would probably bring this one in at third. Not because I found anything particularly bad but the spa at Best Western was uber-outstanding and the room amenities at Embassy Suites was geared more for an extended stay than Country Inn. However, the bed at Country Inn was far more comfortable and I liked the defined areas of the room. I'd stay here again, if I wasn't on a quest to try out all the hotels in Columbus.
