This is why I stay at the London and ONLY the London when Im in LA

Just to get away from the shitty cold of NY for a few days. I'm an easy traveler but was kinda worried about flying with my dog by my self (my better half went a day ahead of me for some girls time before I got to town). Not worried like something would happen that I couldn't handle; worried like what if she barks or does something embarrassing and I don't have anyone else to help me take the heat. Luckily the dog rules and didn't even so much as pee in her crate. The best part of the flight: it landed an hour early.

I've lived in LA before so I know my way around and rented a car. The lady at the counter had the personality of drying wallpaper. Sometimes I feel like asking if there are any upgrades available. I mean, why not, right? She had the driest answer of "not today sir, unless you pay for it." Thanks lady. Then it's not really an upgrade is it? It's just getting more by paying for it. She tells me to pick any car in the intermediate SUV aisle. Ok. The row is filled with Jeep Patriots, Liberties, and some other like-sized SUVs. At the very end of the aisle in the last spot sat a nice shiny and still wet from its car wash Jeep Grand Cherokee. She did say ANYTHING in that aisle. Looks like I got my upgrade after all. :P to you, lady at the counter.  On the way from the airport I usually take the back roads for the sights. And for Randy's Donuts. It may not always be the most picturesque route (note the Beverly Hills Cop II Dent oil fields) but I'd take La Cienega up into Bev Hills /
WeHo are over the 405 to the 10 ANY DAY!
I get to the hotel almost two hours before the early check in.

Let's talk about the hotel. The London in West Hollywood (http://www.thelondonwesthollywood.com/) may possibly one of my all time favorite hotels to stay in. Why, do you ask? For many reasons, the first is more of a prerequisite when traveling within the US: they take pets. It's also how they treat pets that stay with them. When we arrived early, our room wasn't ready yet. I asked if I could go sit up by the pool with the dog while I waited. Not a problem. So I sit at a booth in the corner and order a bloody mary. It was the best bloody mary I've ever had. I could taste the fresh horseradish and fresh tomato juice. The lemon lime garnish and chili salt topped it off. It tasted like a spicy V8, I almost doubted there was even liquor in it (until I stood up - then I felt the vodka). The server took the initiative to ask if the dog would like some water and brought over some ice water in a martini glass. Does it get better than that?

Yes, it does. From the second I walked into the hotel, the staff was as on point as it gets. They remember your name from check-in to check-out. When you call for your car, no matter what event is going on at the hotel, it's there in 5 minutes. Every door is held for you and every staff member instinctively gives you the right of way. Every inch of the hotel is spotless, including the coolest suede walls which are also kept immaculately groomed (if you've been there you know what I mean and I bet you wrote something on them too). The view from the rooftop pool and gym is amazing and the weather was a nice 72. By the way, I HIGHLY recommend eating at least one meal up there. We ate breakfast up there and it was fantastic.
After finally settling in the room, I was able to wash up, get the dog situated and get ready to go back out again.  For the rest of the weekend, the London and its staff took great care of us. Great service that is friendly, professional and personable make all of the shiny amenities shine that much brighter.  In my opinion, there is no other place to stay whenever I go to the Los Angeles area.

Nice review! I haven't taken my Bulldog to a hotel yet - it does seem a bit intimidating - but if I were going to, this sounds like a great place to stay! Plus I love a good Bloody Mary (so you sold me with that!). Have you checked out the Unique Hotels community? Feel free to join. I just featured your review there.
