Last year in September, my wife and I left for a short holiday to New York City. We stayed at Hotel Gansevoort as they had a really attractive special rate if you booked 3 months in advance. In the end, it was a terrific value for money. The hotel itself is located in Manhattan, 18 9th ave. I’m sure it’s one of the most beautiful hotels in whole New York, with its stylish facade enlightened in pink at night. When you enter the lobby, you will be astonished by the well-designed interior and the expensive-looking furniture. The welcome was really warm and the check in was fast, it felt like the employees had awaited us the whole day and done their homework. Very professional and attentive staff there.
We were taken to our room and the boy opened the door. Wow, what a great and big room. I asked the boy if that was a mistake, because we only had booked a “normal” room. The boy smiled and told us that this definitely was the category we ordered. The room was about 25 sqm and the bathroom also was that big.
Of course, you don’t have to search for any mistakes, dust, forgotten waste or something like that in such a hotel. Anyway, we did, but we couldn’t find anything. The room was all clean, the towels smelt fresh,... like in a dream!
Normally, we wouldn’t go to an expensive hotels’ restaurant, but as the room rate was really ok, we decided to have dinner at “Tanuki Tavern” in our hotel. My wife would die for sushi, so we ordered a big plate. Everything was freshly made and we had a lot of good food, wine, beer and fun as we met some other hotel guests who joined us for dinner.
Breakfast the next morning was more than rich: you could have stayed for hours there and wouldn’t have had anything twice.
I don’t know if we ever stayed in such a fantastic, but affordable hotel New York. It’s 100% recommendable.
