The first time I stayed at this hotel back in 2004 it was standing very lonely in a barren lot and the whole scene was industrial with this darling little gem shining in the middle. Since that time it has grown up quite a bit. There is a very good Thai restaurant next door and the grounds of the hotel have been landscaped and have had time to mature. The hotel is decorated in simple, clean, solid colors with vintage French country accents. I've not had the pleasure of eating at the cafe as it has been closed during each of my stays. The menu is limited but would make a nice and quick breakfast or snack. The hotel is run very much like a mom&pop village inn...it's almost like you are staying at a dear friend's home who has left the keys under the mat and put a pitcher of water on the nightstand along with a little snack. One standout feature of this hotel is the lighting....it's all on sensors which really speaks to the conservationist in me. The halls are kept dark but the lights turn on perfectly as you advance though the hall. I've noticed that typically sensor lights turn on too late or turn on very abruptly. These lights turn on well before you need them and brighten ever so subtly so that you feel enveloped in a warm glow as you walk. The effect is dreamlike.

It is fun! My parents stay there too now after my recommendation, The hotel I'll visiting will be in a few weeks: The Orchard in San Francisco. I've stayed there before but never with an eye to formally review

This does sound charming and the photos make it look adorable! I love the idea of being so comfortable somewhere that you feel like you're staying with a friend. How fun! Thanks for sharing.
