I have a mean sweet tooth. It is absolutely impossible for me to go one day without eating some sort of sweet. Whether it's chocolate, ice cream, cookies or all of the above I am a sweet maniac. And of course the time that my sweet craving kicks in the most is when I am in class. One day I was in the bookstore in U-hall (my favorite place on campus) buying a pack of gum when I came across a colossal cookie in plastic wrap. With exciting packaging and delicious sounding flavors I purchased my first cookie from the Alternative Baking Company.
I got the Explosive Espresso Chip. Not only is this cookie (as well as all of the cookies from the Alternative Baking Company) delicious and giant enough to be a meal it is completely 100% vegan! They offer every flavor possible including Colossal Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Persuasion, Outrageous Oatmeal Raisin, Double Chocolate Decadence and my all time favorite is the completely dairy and wheat free Snickerdoodle. Let's talk about the Snickerdoodle real quick. Now when most people think vegan or healthy they think "It doesn't taste as good". But I promise left and right that this is the best Snickerdoodle I have ever eaten in my entire life. It looks exactly like a Snickerdoodle should look, covered with sugar with those little cracks from being baked all over the top. However, it tastes BETTER than a Snickerdoodle should taste and this just goes to show that your body wants and accepts healthy, natural and unprocessed food, even if it is a giant cookie at 9 in the morning.
The bad thing: I can no longer go into the bookstore without buying one of these cookies, no matter what time of day it is. The good thing: They are healthy and vegan and don't leave you feeling like complete crap after you eat them. They don't spoil your next meal and actually give you the little kick of energy you need sometimes to get through the day. These are a terrific discovery I have made and I encourage everyone to go buy one and to enjoy! I give LMU mad props for stocking up on most of the flavors the Alternative Baking Company has to offer and for actually embracing a vegan lifestyle!
