Dear nonexistent people who who keep popping up at random: If you're only posting a phony profile of a person who doesn't actually exist, don't follow my work! You're a waste of space and having your name on my followers list is a discredit to me. If you're not an active poster and/or have never been an active poster and/or have no intention of ever being an active poster, you have no business placing … more
I can't remember what my life was like before goodreads and, honestly, I don't want to. It's a lifesaver to track the books I've read and reviewed, what my mom has out from the library, not to mention what all of my friends are reading. Not thrilled with the latest site redesign but that's hardly enough to counter all of the other enviable features.

woopak_the_thrill posted a Quick Tip about Tags on Lunch.

A good idea to help members find what they want. It needs to be accurate and easy to grasp. Not to be mistaken as a promotional tool for any community. Tags need to apply to the topic itself. (movies will go to communities with this tag and books wil go to communities with this tag etc.) so it would be much easier to find. Closely related to tag manager in communities. … more

The reviewing format in this lunch is one of the best I've worked with and provides total freedom. I love it that I can add photos, links (to my other reviews), and all the tools that can make reviews look much more fancy and professional looking. It is also nice that the 'unhelpful' button has been eliminated since the goal of the site is not competition but rather sharing and learning … more
Something like disapproval crept into my heart when an out-of-town family member announced on Facebook that they were done using it as a means of communication. It was not the decision to abandon it that bothered me; someone might do that for legitimate reasons. It was the implication that Facebook is a superficial form of interaction that has little value. Not being … more
When you are interacting on Facebook or tweeting your buddies, what image are you portraying? Do you stand for something specific and express your best qualities or do you randomly put out information that could come back and haunt you? No matter whether you work for someone else or own a business, it's important that your actions (including online content) reflect who you … more
I hadn't even heard of Foursquare until it was mentioned in a social media book I was reading this past week. The description was kind of vague saying it was a mobile game for people who travelled a lot. Nonetheless, I was intrigued enough to take a look at this book. For those new to Foursquare, it is a game. It could be best described as a geotracking game where your own … more
I take back every bad thing I ever said about Justin Timberlake. It's that he came riding in on the back of a popular boy band, and we all know how that usually turns out, right? Well, if you were among the many, many Timberlake bashers, you may take heart in the fact that his singing hasn't really changed one bit. However, he has proven to be a great pop music innovator, but what really surprised … more
In the opening scene of Social Network we eavesdrop on a conversation between Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) and his girlfriend. At the end of the scene Mark's now ex-girlfriend sums up his treatment of people in a succinct statement. She told him that he would probably do something big and complain that girls didn’t like him because he was a nerd. She went on to say … more
Okay, here's that odd circumstance where I am being offered something for nothing and whining about it. As you can probably tell from my rating, I generally like Lunch.com. One of the site owners found my work on Epinions.com and asked me to drop in and give Lunch.com a quick whirl, even offering a little bit of payment as an incentive. With Epinions.com swirling ominously … more
You know how it is - a quick walk in the park on a sunny day and you realize you've forgotten your Frisbee. It's a common problem and unless you have a 12-pack from the sports section of Costco, you're most likely shit out of luck. If this sounds familiar, you're going to love Google Music, a new service from the company that brought you the Internet, … more

I'm still a little surprised at the amount of acclaim that has been heaped onto this film. Personally, while I did find it to be well acted and very well directed, I just was never that taken with the story or the way that it was being told. I can't claim to know Mark Zuckerberg, nor can I claim to know much about the foundation of Facebook, but this film is told from an angle that is designed … more
(When you read the following, please note I advocate for a learning revolution through digital media in China, not a political one; I want the Chinese people use their digital information infrastructure responsibly for the purpose of overall Human Sustainability; while I do not endorse violence as a form of opposition, I do believe there are human rights issues need be addressed in the … more
This is a question...Are you planning on adding new badges for picture books on Easter like we had for Christmas and Thanksgiving? I've got 4 books in review on the subject coming up.

woopak_the_thrill posted a Quick Tip about Tags on Lunch.

Tags assist members in finding what they want to read about and help organize communities in the site.. Tags are supposed to be factual and a main part of the wiki such as "movies, sci-fi, fantasy, comedy, reading or comics". This is a great tool when used responsibly. Please check out this FAQ on tagging: http://www.lunch.com/Forums-HelpForum-What_are_tags_-93-1-1.html … more
