Prior to joining Lunch I used to post reviews of books and movies. The reason I started doing these reviews was that I read so many books (about one a week) and saw so many movies (I usually go to a theater once or twice a month) that I could never remember plots or whether or not I actually had read a book or saw a movie. The review was a way to reinforce my memory and provide a place I could search to give me just enough of a memory jog that I could remember a plot.
As I posted reviews and started receiving comments, I found it fun to respond to readers' points and I came to realize that people were actually interested in what I had wrote and many times would start a stimulating dialogue on some point I had missed or should really think about. This started making writing reviews a pleasure and opened a new world of social activity.
When I was invited to join Lunch I figured I would do more of the same. I would post my book and movie reviews and have another outlet of cyber-friends to open discussion on what I had written. I then realized very quickly that though book and movie chat is fine, people want to discuss anything from food, clothing, news restuarants, gadgets, television commercials, etc. I started reading some of the great reviews that readers have posted and realized I wanted to comment to them on it. When my comments started getting long I said to myself why not put those comments into a review of my own? So I started writing reviews of things that I had no idea I would ever be reviewing and I found I enjoyed it a lot.
I then just would think about something I was passionate about and realized I could create a data point for it and post my thoughts and stimulate other readers to my passion. I now find I have evolved from that book/movie reviewer to someone who can share thoughts about anything and have it reviewed by a community of great cyber friends. I am glad I joined the Lunch community. It is a great place to voice your opinons, create a list of things you like, or just get some ideas about something you may be passionate about by reading other Lunch member reviews. Thank you Lunch!

Very well stated! Perhaps the best thing about reviewing on Lunch is that we are not limited to books, CD's or movies only. We can discuss politics, products trends you name it. Your review should serve as an inspiration to those who have been comtemplating writing a review but have never actually given it a try.

Over the years, I've managed to come across great books as well as teachers that would teach me valuable lessons in writing. Although I've managed to take poetic license with quite a bit of my work, their wisdom meant a great deal to me & actually has helped me tremendously through the years whenever I've composed any piece of writing. The reviewing format in this lunch is one of the best I've worked with and provides total freedom. I love it that I can add photos, links (to my other reviews), and all the tools that can make reviews look much more fancy and professional looking. Oh what fun Lunch is providing me. Years ago as a kid, I would take my mothers typewriter and get busy clacking away my thoughts on a movie I had just watched. Showing no real journalistic ability, I kept my little "critiques" folded away in a little book for my own private viewings. As I have just joined Lunch I thought that I would attemt to write a review. The thing is that I am rubbish at making decisions, even given a choice of only two things I can um and err for eternity.
