I don't get what's so popular about this damn Wii. I went out of my way to get one with all the hype out there about how great and fun it is. After playing it for a few days, I got bored of it already. That motion sensor remote/nunchuck is "interesting" at best. But I don't find any of the games any fun. All the games seem to be made for 10 year olds or simpletons that are easily amused. I mean how fun can flipping your wrist to throw a bowling ball and watching it knock down 10 pins be? Yea the wii's very innovative but I could care less about innovation if the damn games are boring as hell. I thought mariokart would make up for this bad purchase. But mariokart only lasted a few weeks at best. They totally screwed up the battlemode by making it time based instead of last one standing.
So here's my summary of the wii:
Pros:
-innovative
-great for parties since most games are multiplayers
Cons:
-All the games are for kids or simpletons that are easily ammused
-Graphics suck, compared to the xbox360 or ps3
-A lot more expensive than you would originally think after you purchase all the accessories and extra controllers/remotes
Final notes: If you're a serious gamer, skip the wii for sure. You'll surely be disappointed.

I haven't bought a system since Super Nintendo, but I am glad to hear your thoughts on WII, since everyone I know and don't know praises it!

Well to answer your questions, I also played zelda and metroid but I didn't like them much either. I felt the motion sensor control works for a small percentage of games. But it tends to make it more frustrating than fun for most games I enjoy. As for the cost, you'd be surprise to know that the wii remote + nunchuck/controller costs on avg 20 dollars more than xbox's wireless controllers. just check amazon and most stores. And I never said wii was more expensive than the other consoles, I said that it was more expensive than its original system price leads you to believe (which is 249). In the end, its a let down for serious gamers. As for kids and casual gamers, I wouldn't know since I'm neither one of em.

While I don't totally disagree with your review, what games have you played besides Wii Sports and Mario Kart? Saying all the games suck out of hand seems a bit over the top, since you only reference two. Sure, the games were designed with more casual gamers in mind, but 1. that was the point of this system, and 2. that doesn't mean they're entirely without merit. Some of them are even great in that their play style takes me back to the fun I had with the original NES as a kid. What's wrong with wanting kids to play games similar to what we played when we were young, instead of Gears of War or Left4Dead? Also, buying extra accessories and controllers for the Wii isn't any more expensive than for any other system. Extra controllers for every other system cost $50 as well, so the price just keeps going up no matter which system you buy. However, I agree with your final assessment that serious gamers should skip the Wii, because it's not intended for them at all.

Super Mario Galaxies?!?! are you kidding me? thats like saying pong and pacman are great games at this day and age. sure it was great when it first came out, like in the 15th century or whenever it was, but now its laughed at.

you know, i was kinda bored with the Wii at first but they just need to develop more Wii specific software. look at the DS; they had no games at first and now they have an awesome catalog! ok "real" gamers play Xbox 360 or PS3, but I make the case that super mario galaxies is nintendo talent u just can't deny.

You hit the nail on the head. The console has so much potential, but Nintendo seemed to have gone for the easiest method of selling consoles: people who buy things on impulse.

Excellent gaming system for young children, or for us big kids. This system has wonderful graphics, and is easy to use. A must for those who love gaming, and can afford the price-tag.

Decent console, but overrated. Great games are few and far between and those that are actually great are completely ignored by the general public, inviting developers to give up on trying to make stuff of absolute substance and concentrate on crap. Online multiplayer and friend system is terrible in order to "protect the children." Still, when I DO find good games for the Wii (Zack and Wiki, No More Heroes, etc), I do get a lot of enjoyment out of them.

I only gave it a 3 because I don't approve of kids gaming too much, my family only got a WII when I was 18 (because my 12 yr old sister won it somewhere) and I enjoy it now and we play with it in moderation.

The Nintendo Wii is quite revolution in its own right. With all the things it can do, it's hard to say it won't be competition for the market this year. What it boils down to is what you like. If you want a console for some gaming fun, then the Wii is definitely for you, in more ways than one. The Nintendo Wii is a fantastic game system for kids especially but I think most adults will love it just as much. The Wii doesn't have nearly as good of graphics as the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 but the game selection is so much better for young kids. Many of the games on these other systems have a lot of foul language and so far I am not seeing that at all with Wii games. In addition there is a huge selection of games that kids will love. I'm not much of a game fan - don't have an Xbox nor do I game using a PC. But this is fun! I use it mainly with the Wii Fit balance board attachment for exercise, and it provides a nice variation from the usual cardio machines or strength routines. Easy to set up and use. The graphics are not what you'd call top-notch, but are usable. All in all, I'm very pleased with it - never would have thought I'd own a game deck, but the Wii changed that!
