A serious contender for The Most Overrated Musician Who Ever Lived. John Lennon started out as one of those guys who pissed and moaned about his fame, but to his credit, he did manage to get over that. However, he basically wrote boy band music in the early years of The Beatles, and wrote like he was more concerned about his reputation as a pretentious artiste in their experimental years. Although … more

They are one of the most unique-sounding bands to ever come out of the English music scene. I love their combination of raggae, pop, rock, and ska. They played some extremely catchy songs. Furthermore, even though they tour every now and then today, they don't record new music - they played their piece and got out on the top of their game.
RabidChihuahua posted a Quick Tip about Kanye West.
November 22, 2011
There's absolutely nothing I like about Kanye West, whether it be his music or his personality. Kanye is nothing more than a pompous ass with an ego bigger than the Goodyear blimp, and his music is some of the most bland hip-pop (NOT real hip-hop, just pop music disguised as hip-hop) I've ever heard. Do your part and ignore this attention-seeking prick, then go listen to the … more
djevoke posted a question about Tupac Shakur
September 13, 2011
There are very few rappers who have taken on the enigmatic, angelic aura that Tupac Shakur has. There have been other rappers, some who are better at rapping and writing, others who are better at conveying the anger and frustration of street life. But none of them - not even Tupac's contemporary and rival, Notorious BIG - have come near the canonized sensitivity that Tupac did when he was shot down … more
RIP. Should be considered one of the all-time great rappers, and I would have rated him higher if his life wasn't cut short. He would have gone on to a stellar career. He wrote very gritty raps, so much so that it's painfully easy to envision yourself in his situation, doing whatever you can, and experiencing all of the pain and anger he expressed.
John. Paul. George. Ringo. No last names are necessary here. Four musicians of breathtaking originality, talent, and ambition. Born in the unlikely city of Liverpool, England, and the changers and modern musical conquerers of the civilized world. At least that's how the story is most often told. I have to be honest here: Whenever I think of The Beatles, I think of a quote I … more

One of my very favorite bands. U2 bears their soul on every record, wandering spiritually and ideologically, bringing attention to questions great and small, and always shedding light on the ugliest and most beautiful aspects of life.

One of the truly great lyricists, but his act got old and routine: Complain about his mother, threaten his wife, vow to turn his life around, score some kind of controversy. He really needs to mature a bit more.
R.I.P Biggie- who died March 9. 1997. He was an amazing rapper and there will never be another Biggie, he was able to rap for white Top 40 audiences and still get down on the block in a freestyle battle. It is rare that a rapper can do both. With the help of hype man turned mega millionaire producer, Puffy, B.I.G was able to reach the masses with his skilled rhymes. He could spit rhymes at the drop … more
TheJohn posted a Quick Tip about The Beatles.

They have been around for nearly four decades now. This group has earned a reputation as one of the hardest working and most versatile acts in show business. The Manhattan Transfer made a decision years ago not to concentrate on any one particular style of music. It was surely the right choice because Manhattan Transfer continues to perform to this day their unique blend of … more

I loved the Bee Gees! I grew up on Miami Beach and was in High School when the Disco era was in full swing. The Bee Gees music for the movie "Saturday Night Live" was awesome. It is the epitome of the Disco genre, the Bee Gees set the standard for all others to emulate. Whenever I think back to my teenage years I here Bee Gees music in the background!!! … more
