The best thing about Kanye West is also the worst thing about him: he has no filter. What Kanye thinks comes out of his mouth, or on the stage of an awards show or benefit concert, or best of all, into his music. This is what makes his lyrics so fascinating: what other hip-hop star would write so earnestly about his relationship with another rapper as Kanye did with Jay-Z on "Big Brother"? Or discuss so openly how sick about awards he was, like on "Diamonds"?

But it's that he's so sick about the awards that makes him so annoying and willing to jump onto the stage and make a total fool of himself. The man is insecure, and his insecurities are so public that they can be annoying. He's like the sloppy drunk friend who calls you crying every other week. He's charming most of the time, but when he's not, oh how he's not.
There's no middle ground - Kanye's either the life of the party, or the guy who clears the room out with the most insensitive comment. Except that he does it publicly, and not in your home, so it really comes down to this - are you willing to forgive one of the most gifted entertainers of the decade his incredibly annoying tresspasses, or will you let his occasional mistakes cloud your enjoyment of his music?
I'm firmly in the forgiveness camp - I'm listening to "Love Lockdown" and "Jesus Walks," not finding a new roommate. How about you?

There's absolutely nothing I like about Kanye West, whether it be his music or his personality. I dont like kanye west. I do have to give it to him cause he does make good music but his music is over shadowed by his bad manners. You could be the smartest or prettiest person in the world but if you act like a jerk it doesnt matter. no one has the right to make you feel less then what you are. Someone needs to humble Kanye West boy one day that cloud is gonna slip from under you. Great music<acting like a jerk so no one really care about the great music. hmm

It's worth your time to hear his music, despite what a social screw-up and embarrassment he is to his genre of musicians and to himself. Regardless, his poetry and flow are pretty epic and ground breaking... not to mention really fun to dance to ; )

I first noticed him on some of Jay-Z's albums, and first saw him at a Jay-Z concert in Chicago, where Kanye was announced the newest member of Rocafella. First concert I saw him perform in, however, was about a year later - yet well before he "blew up".
