Mario is an artist that was shadowed by the talents of other muscians like Usher, Chris Brown and Ne-yo, who took the spot lights immediately with each new single they released. With the exception of "Just a Friend" and "Let Me Love You," Mario hasn't really been given the attention as a R&B artist trying with exceptional talent. A big reason for this was probably due to his first album that didn't do so well in sales throughout the world. But after a 3 year hiatus to the music world, Mario finally returned with the album entitled "Go!" to hopefully regain his popularity and fanbase that had been eager for more.
"Go!" came armed with an army of creative producers that Mario worked with to produce an album that was diverse and different from what he had been used to. Producers like Collipark, The Neptunes, Ne-yo, Dr. Dre and Timbaland cand be found laying out tracks that flow well with Mario's voice and tone. It is interesting to listen to this album, since many of these producers make music usually intended for club and party hits. However, with Mario's slow style of music, mainly set for more intimate listening, the producers he worked with still deliver intense beats that match well with this R&B singer.
Tracks like "Crying Out for Me" and "How Do I Breathe" keep true to what and who Mario is while adding a new sense of flare with the beats and background that accompany each song, giving him the caliber of music to perfectly fit his voice. The enhancement of each track's beat, tone and rhythm is the biggest difference from past albums and attempts at great music.
I don't think "Go!" made Mario to the same level of popularity, fame, and respect as those enjoyed by other artists, but if you are looking for creative music derived from the collaboration of various producers, then Mario's album is worth a look.
