It happens to everyone, but quite possibly more to females. After months of taking showers for some strange reason the water in your bathtub will be going down real slow. Either you stick your hands inside of the drain and pull out blobs of hair, or you see the hair in there and find yourself using a bottle of Drano to clear it. I knew for as long as I chose to have a woman in my home, this was a problem I was always going to run into, but I put a stop to it awhile ago by purchasing the Microban Hair Catcher made by Danco.

What is the Universal Hair Catcher? Well, it's a white plastic drain cover that fits most bathtubs. It's probably about 3 inches round, has a small basket-like bottom that fits into the drain, and it's filled with small holes to let the water pass through freely, but its purpose is to catch the falling hair that is normally the cause of stopped up bathtubs. The outside of it is like a platform which lays flat on the tub; it extends upward about 1/2 an inch or so, and this allows the water to continue passing through it on the outside, to keep the bathtub from filling up while you're taking a shower just in case the hair has filled up the basket.

The tool is great for those who like to wash their mops in the tub, and it also catches those small pieces of paint that chips off from the bathtub. That's actually an added bonus for me, because many times when I have put a pump to the bathtub; I would see plenty of paint chips shooting out, and these are also responsible for clogs once they build up. However, the catcher may not catch all of the tiniest pieces, but those small particles may never have the chance to build up as long as the water is still running.

The product is also listed to contain a built in Microban, supposedly, this fights the growth of odor causing bacteria, mold, and mildew. I'm not too sure of this because I do clean it often. The catcher has a finger lift loop to easily remove it from the drain.

The packaging comes with simple instructions on the back, plus it's easy to open. From what I've heard, the only real issue comes in cleaning it, but I can imagine this only being a problem through massive build up, which I haven't experienced because the dirt washes off fairly easy if you don't let it stick. If it comes down to that, then put on some rubber gloves, spray it with a cleaner, and run hot water on it. In closing, if you're going through moments where you have to pour Drano or Liquid Plumber into your drain periodically. Then I recommend giving this product a try.

Pros:
-Very easy to use, easy to clean
-Catches hair, paint chips, and mop pieces

Cons:
-Cleaning it can be kind of yucky if it builds up
