Second time was the charm, but the third makes it better yet.

Mega Man kept on rolling in the 90s from the 80s with Mega Man 3.  To me at this point, each game was an improvement over the other.  Maybe the soundtrack isn't as memorable as Mega Man 2's, or some of the weapons aren't as cool but the game offers far more game play with tightened controls and more levels over the other two games at a time when Mega Man was still fresh and fun, before the games felt tired, but could still be fun.

The story has Dr. Wily coming to work back with Dr. Wright to create a peace keeping robot but important pieces of the plans have been stolen by 8 new robots which Mega Man is sent to defeat to collect the parts, along with his new sidekick, Rush the Robot Dog.  After the 8 are defeated, more robot's appear and are Dr. Wily's old creations from the previous game in new bodies.  Yes, Dr Wily we learn is in fact up to no good again and plans on using the Peacekeeping robot for evil purposes.

Graphics are as colorful and detailed as the last game with some moving background elements and colorful worlds to travel to.  Sounds, I'll admit I miss the crash sound that Mega Man makes when he took damage, the sound of Mega Man jumping and shooting or picking up power ups all changed in this game and do sound a little weaker but I can ignore all of that for the fact that Mega Man now RACES up ladders, instead of plodding up them.  Controls are tightened up for great control over Mega Man, and now, Mega Man can slide under small gaps or at least pick up some speed to escape monsters.

Along the way, Mega Man as in the previous games, battle through stages, jump across pits, go underwater and battle a boss who when defeated gives up they're signature weapon so that Mega Man can use it against other foes.  Many of the Robot bosses all have a weakness to some kind of weapon and along the way Rush gains powers too.  Normal form is a springboard for Mega Man to make high jumps off of, and others include a Hover Jet for Mega Man to fly around on and a submarine that keeps Mega Man moving underwater.  Already an improvement over Mega Man 2 with Rush over the 3 items in that Mega man isn't defenseless when using Rush, since Mega Man can at least use his arm cannon, and Rush can be steered in directions other then only up and down and side to side.

The level design definitely is a step up from the previous games instead of a lot of up and down corridors or by having some more difference in the paths taken, with different platforms to take to different rewards.  Stages can't be revisited but there is no real reason to go back to them after being completed since there is no score to improve or a item you have to find in every stage.

Mega Man 3 some people think is too easy and some just dismiss it since it isn't Mega Man 2, but I think the improvements are in place and like I said the game series was at it's peak before it started feeling old hat.

Hat Man vs Mega Man, get equipped with Hat Buster.

Nice! I have to admit this game franchise had its memorable moments. There was one game too which was so unbelievably hard...can't remember which one.

All the Mega Mans had a tough spot that could hang up the game. Mega Man 4 is probably the toughest of the originals and the first one is pretty tough too.

My favorite Mega Man game on the old NES with more levels and more powerups over the other games.

Mega Man 3 (ロックマン3 Dr.ワイリーの最期!? Rokkuman Surī Dokutā Wairī no Saigo!??, lit. Rockman 3: The End of Dr. Wily!?) is a platform video gamedeveloped and published by Capcom for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is the third part of the original Mega Man series. The game was released on September 28, 1990 in Japan with North American and European releases later in 1990 and 1992, respectively. In Mega Man 3, the titular hero helps his creator and a former villain collect parts for a peace-keeping robot by defeating several Robot Masters.

Following the success of Mega Man 2, the game has sold over one million copies since its release and has become a fan favorite.[6] Like other titles in the series, Mega Man 3 has been re-released a number of times as part of various Mega Man compilations, and has most recently made its way to the NintendoWii's Virtual Console.
