The Man in the Arena

Thus, it is with this I urge whoever comes this way to write a review, a thought, a sentence... like it or not, it is the act of sharing that fuels the mind, the focus of the mind that challenges conventions, the inner wisdom of each and every single of us that changes the world into a better place. 

Everyone on this site has a view about how a review should be written and some are more popular & appreciated than others. That is purely personal preference of its members as well as what some terms it talent. Some writes well, some are popular, some are cynical, some are nonsensical (well, possibly just to me). No matter what, the idea is to write. It is in writing that others get to hear the inner voice in each and everyone of us. It is in sharing that one can interact with the community at large. IMHO, one does not have to be perfect or even proficient in writing. Each of us began taking that first step as a child, curious about the world, anxious to discover what is out there... a whole new world, open our eyes each morning and begin to feel that sunshine on your face, is it not that as a child that we greeted our days? So, this is the place where you are allowed to do exactly that & to err. A place to play, a place to share, a place to learn & a place to love. Yes, love because I do believe that in reviewing, we find out what we love about life. How much you choose to write is up to you. How much you love something is also your choice. Tell us why & show us the way. Show us a way into your world. Expand our worlds and guess what, we have a galaxy! Isn't that just awesome?!

In my reviews on Lunch, I'm not dictated by any rules or preferences. My way is to simply type the words as and when it flows, as if I'm simply a conduit, the words weaved itself through my fingers and are translated onto the screens. I type and type and sometimes it makes me laugh, at other times it makes me tears. All the time, it makes me glad to be alive and to be able to share my thoughts and beliefs. Is it not too long ago that we don't even have freedom to do so in the world? A woman, a minority race or a slave... a mere hundred years ago, many do not have this great chance. And here we are, the internet, where we have access to billions of people... think, how great that may be!

We breathe, we live. We play, we sleep. We work, we die. Before that day comes, why not share what's been your inspirations, your love, your hates, your success or even your defeats? It is in each and everyone of us the capacity to form an opinion, the reality to affect life, the incentive to influence the future generation. Most of all, it is our destiny to live this very life on this world, at this moment in time, sharing our paths with people whom we love (& at times loath, oh, don't pretend otherwise, I'm sure each & everyone of us are challenged in that way). Guess what, these reviews may well be your legacy! I know they are mine :-)

I'm very glad to be a member of the Lunch community. A place where differing opinions aren't met with flame wars or turn into a youtube sewer of LCD insults and ephitats. Everyone seems to get along here. Thank you.

I love your take on review writing and those are some great quotes!  I also believe that writing reviews can help people realize what they love and seek more of it, as well as help people realize what they don't like and try to avoid it if possible.  ...Though I tend to like writing reviews about things that I love more than the latter :P 

Another thing that I love about review writing that this review reminded me of is how thoughtful it makes you when you're writing, as well as experiencing life.  Great review, Sharrie! :)

Nice! Sounds like you are also practicing my habit of just "winging it" when it comes to writing. I love your final paragraph and the quotes are just so cool...Now if only someone will write one on how to do food reviews. LOL! I am stumped! LMAO
