Favorite Meal Of The Day

Well, I'm not going to lie to you. Other than logging out for 15 minute coffee breaks at work or signing off for the end of the day, lunch is what I look forward to. Considering the work I do, lunch can never be heavy nor can I indulge myself in something too sweet. Perhaps a snack that's low in carbs, salts, & sugars will suffice while I catch up on emails or what not. Lunch is a very peaceful time of day where you kick back & relax while you try to refuel for the remainder of your afternoon. Lunch, in fact, is the only time when most of us can stop & reflect on soemthing other than the dreaded issues we'll inevitably face throughout the days of our lives. Who doesn't love lunch, right?

Up until a few months back, I'd never even heard of this site honestly. There was website for singles I believe called It's Just Lunch which is geared towards young people around my age who are perhaps a bit lonely & would like a little no pressure companionship with the opposite sex or same sex. After having been out of a relationship for nearly a month, would you believe I was actually ready to explore the realms of another relationship or even the possibilities of meeting someone new? Perhaps but I never proceeded with the notion & instead tried to find activities or hobbies to fill the void or take away some of the emptiness that being single causes. Lunch.com was an unknown to me although I probably would've jumped on the idea sooner had I known about it.

I received an email one fine day from a very sweet young lady about my age who wanted to compliment me on a review she 'd read on amazon.com & to offer an invite to lunch. Like any normal being, I thrive on attention & this is one of the more pleasurable moments that life has to offer. Who doesn't crave that vote of confidence, some thoughtful comments, or validation that you're not a total freak or solo in your thoughts. Needless to say, I was thrilled to check out yet another social networking organization even though I was already writing columns & reviews for two. I immmediately accepted her invitation & the fun was about to begin. Let's not expect too much here for starters but simply examine the place & go from there. Reasonable enough, right?

Lunch turned out to be a fairly cool place to hang out & a great way to express yourself. I have to admit that I love lunch moreso than Facebook, Myspace, & Matchflick which are all relatively known sites for social networking. Although I came to this site as a total stranger, I found more interaction with like-minded people than I ever encountered on any of the sites that I'd mentioned. Wow! People here are so nice for the most part & extremely talented in the writing arts which makes me wonder what everyone here does for a living. I was even slightly tempted to throw a post out there asking people about their career fields but decided against it.

After posting a few reviews (most of which came from other sites I'd written for previously), I was literally amazed at how many positive comments I received & kudos. Again, all I can say is wow! How cool is that? And to think there was actually a time when I believed there was no one out there who could've possibly shared my taste in the arts or even grasp some of the stuff  I was into. Yepster, it's a bit surprising at times but I don't feel so alone anymore. Finally, there is a site which pretty much does what it set out to do & that's to give people the opportunity to express themselves or connecting with folks who have similar opinions. You know, a little bit of the human touch from a relatively non-judgemental crowd. I know it's a hard concept to believe but I've been sold nevertheless.

I find myself utterly addicted to the site & checking my emails often to see if I've received any new comments on the profile or reviews. Believe me when I say that the energy we project on each other through our various interactions is inspiring. Without question, we can take what we learn here & apply it to our daily lives as well as share our wealth of knowledge amongst one another. No longer do I need to consider myself a library of trivial information nor do we have to feel that there is no one out there listening to our spills. Amazing, eh? I, personally, feel like an acclaimed writer sometimes if 1 or 2 folks  read my writing & find it helpful. Thus, my work is far from done here & probability suggests I shall continue to return as long as this site is readily available.

So what should we do? Absolutely nothing. Continue to write when you can as sharing is the greatest gift that one can offer & it's truly a simple gift to bequeath. Share your thoughts or recommendations with others as you have always done & encourage others to do the same. Leave as many comments on other reviewers profiles as humanly possible. If you do these things, Lunch will continue to grow & expand if you do nothing more than what you are already doing today.

In closing, I'd like to thank everyone for sharing including Orlok who will one day give us that Dracula review . Fingers crossed.

thanks for the review Brian. I especially appreciate the part where you state how we can take what we learn here on Lunch and apply it to our daily lives. That's really what we are trying to encourage here... not just sharing information and learning things, but also the manner in which that contribution and discovery can take place... in a place where everyone feels empowered to share. We don't really get that in our daily lives as much as we should. I'm really stoked to see that you're picking up on that because it is critically important to making Lunch a success and it's one of the things that differentiates us from other UGC sites. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!

Glad you enjoyed the review. I find myself telling family & friends often about the things I find here online. It's almost like visiting your favorite magazine online & managing to become a part of the coolest social networking site all at once. It's pretty phenomenal.

I love this review, Brian! Well, I might be a LITTLE biased ;P thanks so much for your kind words and trust me, we love having you here! You bring such a bright light and a variety of passions that are so incredibly inspirational to Luch....and I like how you sign your comments Hugs and Love.

Thanks Sam!! I really appreciate that! Yeah, I know what you mean. I try to sign my comments with hugs & love because I seem to feel it's does make a difference in people's lives. People tend to go where they are appreciated or where they feel someone cares more often than not. Hence, I come quiTe often. ;P How are things with you today?

They're going quite well, just trying to find time to review everything I want to! Lunch has changed the way I look at everything and I find myself wanting to share more about what I experience. You are quite right, it does make a difference in people's lives and it always puts a smile on my face :) I was a LITTLE bummed that they did reruns this last Sunday for True Blood!

Oh, one more thing I forgot ;p...when you want to link to another site, you can link to its review on here, that way people can see what others think of it before they check it out. For example, instead of linking to the actual Amazon site you can link to the Amazon reviews for more Lunching fun!

Thanks again Sam! That's great feedback. I do feel the same way & I'm glad that I could put a smile on your face. I am caught up on True Blood Season 2 but am anxiously awaiting the next episode as usual. I did manage to catch a friend up to speed on the three episodes this past weekend & I will probably go ahead with the purchase of season 1. Good to hear from you as always! Hugs!!!

nice write up, Ceno. I do like this site, it is a fun place to post your opinions and I feel that folks here actually read your reviews as opposed to amazon where they just hit you with a neggie because they didn't agree with your star rating. How have you been?
July 07, 2009
I agree wholeheartedly. I fiond myself more inclined to leave good feedback or comments if I like the writing style or if I appreciate the writer's point of view rather than whether or not they liked the same things I would enjoy. That was a very interesting point & I do appreciate you sharing it with us.

Okay, here's that odd circumstance where I am being offered something for nothing and whining about it.     As you can probably tell from my rating, I generally like Lunch.com. One of the site owners found my work on Epinions.com and asked me to drop in and give Lunch.com a quick whirl, even offering a little bit of payment as an incentive. With Epinions.com swirling ominously around the suckage drain at the moment, I shrugged and said "Well, why not?" And did I mention Lunch.com …

I blogged about Lunch.com on my personal blog (Sharrie.TV) 2 days ago.   Here it is:   As some of you might have know, I was into travelogues many years ago. Spent majority of my waking hours on VirtualTourist. Made some great friends along the way too & got to see many parts of the world which I otherwise wouldn't have step into!      Well, the boss JR Johnson sold it off (I believe he did unless I got my facts wrong!) and is beginning to …

Well, they got me.  I can't remember exactly when I came to Lunch.com.  It was in late December, and when I first got here, I must admit, I was not nearly as impressed.  But they were gracious enough to send me an invite and so I accepted.  Because I was curious.  The site was, for the most part nice, and they just kept improving.  Are there any immediate problems I have with the site now?  Well, not that haven't already been addressed …

Dear nonexistent people who who keep popping up at random: If you're only posting a phony profile of a person who doesn't actually exist, don't follow my work! You're a waste of space and having your name on my followers list is a discredit to me. If you're not an active poster and/or have never been an active poster and/or have no intention of ever being an active poster, you have no business placing me - or really ANYONE AT ALL - on your follow list!

What's this—another social networking site??  Well, not exactly.  Unlike the other popular leading sites, MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter, Lunch.com  uses your personal likes and dislikes to scientifically connect you with other members; it keeps a tab on what kind of things you like and makes no assumption that you are already seeking a connection with long lost friends, family, or coworkers. "It's not who you know, but what you know" on Lunch.com.      …

Please consider that this is a fictionalized account of how Lunch.com came to be. Once upon a time, there was an empty space in the information super-highway… Two exciting creative women met in the world of flashing lights.. One was called Healthy Rache. Another was called LingEatsCake. Healthy Rache insists that this empty spot in the cyberspace be made into her own image that it be made "Healthy" and full of energy and life. LingEatsCake insists that it be filled by all the sweetness of life--love …

I was invited and joined Lunch.com a few days ago.If you are into social networks this is a new twist to the original thing. But that is my first "but": I am on a few social networks and somehow never really got friends with them - facebook, twitter, perhaps I just do not know enough people at the beginning or perhaps as a German I am somehow on the wrong continent, or perhaps I am not - any longer! :-) or :-( - spending so much time in front of a computer, but somehow I feel quickly bored or somehow …

I'll be honest- at first I didn't get it. I joined Lunch.com because a friend asked me to join and give feedback. I complained mostly. I didn't understand why I was here. "I already have myspace. I already use yelp. There are a million review sites out there! The worst thing about Friendster was the stupid network- what are you DOING?!"    I've also had an issue with sites that try to "read" who I am, in that they never get a full view. Because I happen to like Will Smith and …
