Is PS3 CFW (aka PS3 Jailbreak) worth the trouble?

Since mid last year when the PS Jailbreak devices were released and the unwashed millions suddenly had access to game back up's from Sony's 'unhackable' console there has been a cat and mouse game afoot.

But here we are now a full twelve months later having been on a roller coaster journey from an expensive hardware dongle to an easily downloadable update.  There have been multiple casualties along the way.  From OtherOS removed by Sony in their bad taste April Fools update to George Hotz (GeoHot) losing against Sony in court (Call it a settlement if you prefer but the end result is the same GeoHot is banned from touching ANY Sony product, that;s a loss in my book, sorry)

So where are we now?

As it stands, until someone actually manages to release something such as a real CFW 3.66 the PS3 Jailbreak scene is stuck way back on firmware 3.55.  Sony changed the keys and more importantly fixed the generation algorithm fixing the FAIL found by Fail0verflow around Christmas last year.

With the new games now coming signed with the new unbreakable keys any person still using PS3 CFW has two choices, update back to OFW 3.66 and enjoy the latest games, online play and the PSN Store OR they are free to keep their "Homebrew" enabled PS3 and enjoy backup managers (that only play old games) and Emulators.

Now for me the choice is simple Modern Warfare 3 later this year or Super Mario Bros for the SNES?

Sorry PS3 CFW, your time is up, now everybody back on the boat before they remove something else!!!
