What do you know of Operation Barbarossa.....the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941? Were you aware of the time hardcore gamers pushed small cardboard squares across a paper map and prayed their lucky six siders would see them to ultimate victory?
If you are, or would like to experience such a time, I dare ya to give War In The East a go. Take up to the complete map of Eastern Europe and break millions of men down by 5-10,000 man divisional or regimental increments. Break these units down by individual tanks, guns and heavy weapons.....in short if you are a grognard, you are in heaven. Trust Gary Grigsby who has been developing such games for nearing 30 years to use the power of today's computers to provide the ultimate PC wargaming experience.
Just make sure you've got 4 hours to kill. You'll need that just for the first few days of the campaign; and there's only 4 more years to go!
Please note this brief intro review was written by a nutcase who once worked with the aforementioned author with supporting campaigns and scenarios of the the 90s wargame series Steel Panthers....one of the first titles with user created and developed content integrated with the original game.
