A Quick Tip by BaronSamedi3

I actually didn't have too many problems with congestion. It only seems severe on the freeways, which can be avoided entirely if you know your way around the city. My problem is drivers don't look out for cyclists; I've been slammed by several doors and cars. One time it happened right in the middle of Clark Street, in the Loop! Chicago is a bicycle-heavy city, so drivers can't afford to fling their car doors open!

SF is a really bike heavy city too and I learned a long time ago that you need to watch out for them! I've never hit one with my door or my car, thankfully. I've lived in LA and that traffic will teach you patience for sure!

That's good to know. I'm not planning to spend forever in Buffalo, and bicycle traffic is something I'm taking into account for a relocation.

Well, SF is a fantastic city- if you don't mind fog, amazing food, heavy emphasis on the environment and individuality, impossible parking, closeness to some of the most beautiful nature scenes in the country, beautiful architecture, overall liberal sensibility and common courtesy amongst many more things ;p It's also been called the West Coast NYC.

Sounds pretty ideal. I've heard it's a major center for alternative spirituality too, which is of great interest to me.

It definitely is...I think my favorite part of SF is that you can be yourself and no one will judge you for it. You can't say that for many places and I'm proud to be able to say it about my hometown. Have you ever visited here? I Left My Heart in San Francisco is a cool community on here.

As a native New Yorker, and having spent just over a week traveling from west to east on our Whuffaoke tour, I must say that traffic as we travel through downtown Chicago at 6pm on a Thursday is making me very sentimental for my hometown.      This is my first trip to Chicago, and between the six-lane-wide traffic entering the city,  the unfriendly drivers refusing to allow us into their lanes, the constant cutoffs from drivers zipping past us, and the utter gridlock …
