After a long winter in Chicago all I really want to do is be outside. But of course I have to make some concessions that take me away from the summer sunshine (i.e. I have to work, eat, sleep, meet up with friends, study, etc.) Thankfully, I discovered the solution to my outdoor cravings in Letizia’s bakery. This place makes almost all of my daily commitments possible to execute outside! Yes, Letizia’s has one of the one coziest and cool outdoor patio’s in the city. I love it so much that I could eat, sleep, work, and tan all from this joint! From the fountains to the flowers, umbrella shaded tables to sunshine struck couches, wireless internet and great food, you just feel like all of your needs and wants are taken care of. And then there is the menu…
Hailing from Roma, the owner has brought a piece of Italy to his edible offerings. From panini’s made with homemade olive oil focaccia (try the Pomodoro Blues or the Fabio), homemade soup and salad (try the Pasta Romano and Caprese) and specialty pizzas (named after Piero who taught the owner how to cook), you can’t help but feel stuffed, happy and like you’ve sampled a bit of traditional international cuisine. And if you like pastries and desserts, (which I know many of you do!) the assortment of cookies, muffins, triple chocolate cloud cake and torta mimosa will rock your world (they did mine!).
In addition, Letizia’s was voted one of the Top 10 places for a cups of coffee, so be sure to check out their espresso bar. They also provide an extensive wine menu, which makes this a great after work meet up spot or casual dinner place with a friend. Topping it off, all Letizia products are made with natural ingredients (great for the health conscious) and they allow you to order special made gift baskets and cakes to go.
This place is truly a Chi-town find and a little piece of heaven to escape from the busy city streets.
