World Cup Cram Jam: Your Way To A Pre-World Cup Degree

Whether you are a avid follower, a passive fan or a once-every-four-years kinda fella, gaining a little bit of insight into the tournament, the teams and the players that will be gracing the field at the World Cup 2010 can only enhance your tournament watching experience.

The web and every sports magazine from here to Cape Town has spent the last year (or more) swelling their content stockpiles ready to blitz interneters with more World Cup commentary than you can shake a stick at.

Too much, in fact to get through before the tournament and wayyyyy too much to get through during the tournament (most of that time will be spent actually watching the games).

So where do you turn in these last couple weeks to get your final fill of pre-World Cup info?

Well, you turn to the worldwide leader in sports.

ESPN's Soccernet has their "World Cup 101" which is a bit misleading in the name because it is the most all encompassing guide to the World Cup that I've come across on the web.

For whatever reason, their site doesn't have its own easily-usable tab for this awesome mine of World Cup information, lists, predictions and insight. Instead you just have to find the link to one of the articles and then browse through the rest using the column on the right hand side (if anyone has a better way to do this, enlighten).

Navigation issues aside, this is a great one-stop shop for all the pre-World Cup info you have room for.

From articles about the best (and most hilarious) World Cup music, rivalry breakdowns, detailed player profiles, World Cup memories, and even Video Game reviews - the 101 turns out to be a lot more like the 101, 102, 103, 201, 202, 203...you get the point. It's the whole damn degree in pre-World Cupery.

If that's a degree you are looking to land, then you better get crackin' as the tournament is just a seventeen days away and you have just under a hundred articles to plow through.

My recommendation is to just start with the first one, which breaks down the Top 50 Players To Watch during the tournament. After that, just keep clickin' that next button and study like you were preppin' for the finals.

Because you are.

The most comprehensive website for all things soccer related. More of a focus on the English premiere league and soccer in the U.S.
